My aha moment of this course is when I realized that what I’ve done so far was the right way of teaching. Engagement, peer-to-peer (in terms of tutor-to- learners), surveys (both in my classes and by the university) are the examples of such. Using the technology in my current classes is limited to PowerPoint slides that I prepare myself. I search Google for pictures to show them in the class. I have different resources to supply students on lessons and activities to broaden their vision.

My lightbulb moment was the section on learning the “magic of teaching”. As an adjunct instructor I have focused on the fact that I am an expert in my field and that I am sharing that with the recruits, and it was their responsibility to learn the material. It was eye opening to talk about learning the magic.

My moment was the technology unit. The question was, where does technology leave the teachers? Technology empowers teachers. Teachers have the ability to bring in new technologies to build interest in the students. It also allows teachers different ways to connect with students in a busy world, such as messaging, emails, online videos, and online classrooms. Teachers will always be needed. It is essential to have teachers who can answer questions and have real-life experiences. Teachers are not going anywhere.
This made me realize or open my eyes to the idea that teaching is always evolving, and we need to stay active as instructors/teachers to ensure we do not stagnate on the technology we are using.

I don't know if I had an actual "lightbulb moment" but I did gather a lot of useful information. I learned about canva, which I am already using in the classroom. I will be using Kahoot for chapter reviews from here on out too. I have really enjoyed this course and can't wait to see how my additions pan out in class.

This course kept my confidence in my teaching high because I was already using some of the techniques spoken about in the units. I really push for the student engagement and try to find many ways to keep this going. Kahoot was a huge success with the test review and my students engagement. They even requested to use kahoot more often during the course so I plan on looking for more opportunities for this.

I hope to inspire them and they can be successful.
I have learned about Flip and Padlet. I plan to use them in the weekly units. There were many other technology platforms I need to become more familiar with so I have various ways to teach students.

I'm not sure if I had an exact 'aha' moment because a lot of it was just review for me but it was a good review. It just reinforced my ideas on technology and how to use it effectively in the classroom. And overall, the importance of student engagement in the classroom. I did take the self-paced Quizziz course because of Unit 4. I was already familiar with quizziz previously but there was a lot of new aspects that I learned about it so that extremely helpful!

I really liked the course that it challenged me to reflect on my current teaching practices. I teach for GTC part time (1-2) courses a semester but I teach full time at the high school level. I liked that we were able to play with a lot of different tools through Blackboard. I was able to incorporate some of these tools into my class. My blackboard is now looking a lot more streamline compared to last semester. I also had one my of HS students run around the building looking for a staff member who knew how to use blackboard, and I was that staff member. This made both of us really happy.

I had my aha moment during my colleague observation. I saw the instructor use technology with intentionality (which I think was a theme of one of the articles that we read . . . not using it just to use it) but what I really admired was the simplicity of it all. It was an OSYNCH ELL class and she used a Google doc to keep a sort of running record or challenging words to pronounce or understand, with their definition or tips. This isn't the same as using closed captioning (which can also be helpful) because the captions change as the speaker speaks. This gave permanence to new words without constantly interrupting or interjecting. I loved it.
