On August 31, 2023, Brooklyn played host to the 1st Caribbean Music Awards. The event awarded several big names in Caribbean Entertainment including Machel Montano and Beres Hammond.

The organisers of the event noted that they put on the awards to give honour to the number of Caribbean artists who've done themselves and the region proud over the years.

Yes! You read that correctly! The typewriter is now moonlighting as a musical instrument.

Leroy Anderson repurposed the writing tool for use in the "Voces para la Paz" (Voices for Peace) project in 2011. The video, posted on YouTube in 2012, has amassed close to 11 Million views. A clip of the original video has resurfaced on Instagram recently, and is making its rounds as a viral post.

Streaming App - Trident Music - coming to App stores in September

App developer Graham Yarde has created an avenue for Barbadian musicians to stream their content. The app, Trident Music, will see artists receiving 80% of sales revenue from work sold on the platform according to Barbados Today.

Micro grants of up to $500 USD are now available for women who are impacting their communities and culture in the Caribbean and Africa.

$10,000 & $25,000 USD Grants for Caribbean Artists

Caribbean Culture Fund has announced a call for proposals from Barbados, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, the Dominican Republic and Haiti residents. The call closes at the end of April 2024.

The grant funding, which is sponsored by Le Centre d'Art, will award 10 grants of $10,000 USD each. Proposals should explore the theme Art for Social Change and Civic Engagement.

Additionally, six grants of $25,000 USD are on offer for project proposals which focus on intra-regional, artistic collaborations.

International open calls for photography exhibitions
