One example of this is in the story the pardoner is supposed to be a religious man that cleanses people's sin. Instead, because of his greed, he manipulates people and takes their money in exchange of him "cleansing their sins". But he actually doesn't care about their sins. Another example is in the Pardoner's story the three men all kill eachother over gold.
