I was getting ready for my Mission Trip that day, I’ve packed all my bags, suitcase, had a quick shower, and changed into my outfit, my mission trip shirt, long pants, and black shoes, just simply “ simple but neat .” I went to the Gambir Train Station in Jakarta with my friends on a Saturday afternoon. It was a long trip on the car and I was already feeling exhausted at that time, the traffic jams are everywhere and it’s really upsetting! but once we arrived at the train station exactly at 15:36 p.m. , I had never felt more excited to began this trip to Malang ! I soon gathered with my team while the teacher was handing out the tickets to each of the students and waited for the train patiently. While waiting for the train, we all took a photo and video together, it was amazing!

Then at 16:00 p.m., all of the teams and I had gotten into the train. Some of my friends and I had troubled on putting the suitcases in the top shelf because it’s too heavy and big, plus the top shelfs are almost full because all the other suitcases are so unorganized. Thankfully, we got some help from the other friends and successfully put our suitcases on the shelfs. After all of that, I sat at the chair near the window, which I switched with my chairmate because she could’ve have gotten sick in a long road trip, which is 14+ hours! I know, it’s a very long, long, long trip, so I spend most of the time watching movies along the trip.

Watching movies in times like this enlightened me up so much! I really enjoyed watching movies and the view at that time. Not to forget, I ate a lot of snacks! From donuts, potato chips, even chicken! After all of that snacks and watching, I started getting tired, my eyes were half- closed. Aware of that, I put all of my things away and put on my blanket and slept on the train. Sadly, I thought that I still had not have enough sleep and energy stored from that 5 hours of sleeping. That once I woke up, the train had stop at the final destination which is Malang, where I’ll be having my Youth in Mission Trip. I then took my suitcase from the top shelf and bag with me then exit the train from one of the doors. I arrived at Malang exactly on Sunday, at 4:00 a.m. in the morning! I was Exhausted but once I stepped out, I was eventually hit by the coldness there! I hurried to run with my team and get into the bus. You probably thought that after all this trip, we’re going to take a rest at the hotel but no! That’s the end of the journey in the train I’ll see you in Day one!

From the previous, where I’ve gotten into the bus, you peobably thought that the team and I were going to the hotel to rest but no! We eventually start the mission on that day! We first when to a small church first because it was also Sunday that day when I arrived. The people greeted and welcomed all of us very friendly there! Then after all of that I started getting ready by brushing my teeth in one of the bathrooms, then changed into my batik outfit. While waiting for the others, the wife of the pastor was really nice and had given all of the team members a snack before starting. I tried a few of the snacks that she had prepared from the fried tofu, green pancakes, and all of that tasted so good and delish! While some of the other studentd munched on the food, the other was also preparing and practicing with the drum, guitars, piano, and vocals downstairs.

Once all of the students were ready, some of the students went downstairs and started to prayed together. The other students who stayed on the second floor played and had so much fun with the kids for the church Sunday school. Other than praying in the church, we all, also sang a lot of songs together, that had been practiced for weeks before the this day. After all of that was finished, the students and I thank the pastor and his family so much, for letting us lead the church together that day. All of us then said our last goodbye and went back to the bus.

Once everyone was already in the bus, the bus took us to have lunch. The lunch menu at that time was Madurese Mixed Rice. It was very flavorful and luscious! I finished it under 5 minutes because I was starving at that afternoon, Then after having lunch, all of us then went to the bus again where we were brought to another church. Same as before, the people there welcomed and greeted us very friendly too. My team and I did the same activities and things again there with my team but it was still very fun! After all of that, we were also given food for dinner by the people there. The final menu of the night was chicken soto, it was so comforting and tasted so savory! Once all had finished, took some photos, The students and I then said our goodbyes and finally went back to the hotel, where I finally took a nice cold shower and eventually had a rest after a very long day.

The next day, I woke up at 5:30 a.m. quickly take a bath and changed into my white mission trip shirt, long pants, and shoes, grabbed my bag and went down using the elevator and had breakfast at the hotel buffet. The was a lot of food there worth to try, from fish, sausages, potatoes, dessert, eggs, fried rice, juices, pasta, porridge and much more! But I just went for, the cereal and milk with a side of toast with butter and strawberry jam on top of it. After finish eating, I went to the sofa lounge where all the other students were already waiting for the others to finish. Then at 6:00 a.m., the studnes and I entered the bus and went onto our first location that day which is the nursing home for the elders.

There, I had a lot of fun exercising with the grandmas! They were actually still so active at doing all of the exercise which put me in shock! Then I soon, went to the other room where all of the students will be accompanying an elder to make accesories out of beads and charms that had been prepared. This was a very comforting session, since I could heard a lot of interesting, sad, funny, and happy stories and experiences from the elders when they’re still in their young age, while helping them making their bracelets and other accesories. The final session, we had a singing sesion with the elderies and I would say it’s super adorable and very entertaining. One by one, they took turn singing the song they picked out and started clapping hands. This was a very long session but it felt so short for me, time goes by realy fast! I had a fun experiences here, totally would wanna do it again! But eventually, the students and I had to said our emotional goodbyes to the elderies and left the nursing home.

Next the bus had a quick stop at some restaurant for all of the team and I to have a quick lunch. There I ordered a fried rice and a bottle of water. The next thing is, I didn’t expect that the portion of the fried rice was enormous! When I said enormous, ENORMOUS! I didn’t thing that I could finish it all so I took a takeaway for the left that I couldn’t finished. Once all of them are also done, the bus took the team and I tothe next spot which is SLB, a place or school for disabled kids. I gotta be honest, at first I was scared, and I’m sure all the other students were scared too. Then I realized after completing one of the activities with those kids, they were actually very plessant even though they were disabled, they could still act so nice with all of the team. I do not expect that I would have so much fun here but I really did! After spending a long hours with all of them in the afternoon, again exercising, having a walk, and paint totebags, the other students and I said our last goodbyes and left. For dinner, the bus took us to eat dinner infront of a train rail, while eating meatballs. It was a fun experience the team and I took some photos in the train rail and then soon head back to the hotel. I went to my room then took a quick cold shower, changed into my pajamas, watched for a few hours then finally went to sleep.

On day 3, the teams and I had only 1 place to go that day which is Immanuel Junior High School. So after having breakfast, just like usual cereal and milk, and toast at the buffet, I then waited for the other students then when all of them are ready, I went to the bus together with the other students. The bus then took us to the school, but there was a big traffic so I would say, waste some of our time stuck on the trafficjam. While the trafficjam is still happenning, most of the students also me, decide to took a nap. After an hour and a half we’ve finally reached the school. The team and I felt that the teachers and principal there greeted us very warm there too and had prepared a very enjoyable snack for us while waiting.

After waiting for about 15 minutes, we then went to the school’s auditorium where the junior high students have been waiting for our arrival. They were so full of energy and I could tell very excited about our arrival! In the auditorium, the other students and I were introduced and the students welcomed us very pleasurable! Once all of the students and I had gotten the time to introduce ourselves, we then took a seat. Then the next thing is, the games that wee going to be played by this junior high students! Some of my friends explained first in the middle auditorium on what games are they going to play and how to play it. Once all of that is done, I was chosen to be the PIC for the 8B students. I first felt very stiff because I had never been a PIC before but after some times talking with them, I felt very amused by them! They were all very supportive and had great time playing the games. Eventhough they only managed to achieve a few points in the game, they all are super active and brave to take actions into the games.

Finally I had to say final goobyes to all of them after a long hour. I took some photos with them, then before heading back to the bus I decided to go to the canteen of the school and bought and ice cream. Then as I was about to head back to the bus, the teachers then gave each one of the students and I, more box of snacks. I then thanked the teachers then finally head back to the bus. Since there’s no more place to go that day, the team and I then went to a pottery making place. I thought that it was so astonishing, where they taught us all about pottery, which is new to me. I even had the chance to paint my own cup and mold one! It was a fun but tiresome activity in the afternoon. After all of the other teams have finished, headed back into the bus, had dinner, and went back to the hotel. As usual, I always had a cold shower, changed into my pajamas, watched a few hours until I eventually fall asleep.

On day 4, as usual, I woke up at 6:00 a.m this time, had a quick rinse, changed into my school uniform and shoes, grabbed my bag and had breakfast like usual at the buffet, cereal and milk, with the side of toast. After I’m done with breakfast, I went to the bus where it tooks us to Malang Kalam Kudus School. It was a very very fast trip, it only took 5 minutes to reach the school. As we arrived, we went ahead to the school’s chapel auditorium, then the other students were practicing the songs again in the band while the others waited for the junior high and senior high students to enter the auditorium. Once every students has arrived the chapel then was started that day by a lot of singings and music and then was continued by the sermon given by the pastor. Then after the chapel was finished, the other students and I were given a few minutes of rest before entering into the classroom of the junior high students.

After the recess time, I then entered class 9A where I was told to with the other friends and students. There together, we explained about their goal settings since the junior high studnets there were almost in their senior high student. So, decided to help them by sharing about their goal settings, what they like to do, and what would they like to take in their senior year later on. Most of them are really good in social stuffs, medical, even arts. It was a fun session, I got to talk with the students and accompany them through out their learning session. After probably around an hour of learning there’s an ice breaking session for 20 minutes where, all of them played games together. Then for the last session, I get to share my experiences and realtionship with God all my life, not only me but all of them also contributed on sharing their stories and experiences on how they built a really good realtionship with God. Finally I had to say last goodbyes to all of them and went to the next stop which is a rest house.

I had a very interesting day there but first, both uncle Abraham and aunt Sarah, the keeper there, greeted all of us so sweet! They even prepared a lunch and dessert for us that day. The homemsde cooking of aunt Sarah was so so tasty! It reminds me of my moms cooking back home, so comforting. To tell you more, a rest house is a house for students or people that were having mental problems such as depression, stressed, and much more. So the house is used for people with mental problems so that they could be healed slowly by the caretaker. After eating and all of that, I met some of the students there while making art mozaic with them. I felt so pity on when I hear what happenned to them, they shared their traumatic experiences and it was full of sorrow. Thankfully, all of them had healed well so much. The last session was eating roasted corn together! It was so exciting, I even get to know the second and last year students better since we talked and talked and kept on talking. Finally after all of this have finished we took some photos and said our final goodbyes to uncle Abraham and aunt Sarah. They were so lovely and nice, they open a rest house for free and help people with their breakdowns and all of that, how great is their service, we need more poeple like them.

For dinner that day, the team decided to went to an all you can eat buffet before finally had to go home the next day. When I entered the place, there’s a lot of food and side dish to choose, but I decided to go and eat with the meats. I tried to eat as much as I could. After an hour and a half, I felt so full, I can’t even move. I was so full! Soon, the bus then took all of the team back to the hotel. I had my shower, changed my clothes then when straight to sleep.

On the last day, I went to Aletheia School. There I was sent to be with the junior high studnets instead of the primary kids. But firstly, I had a session of chapel with the students also. After the chapel, there was a recess time first. I took a bite on some of the snack that have been prepared by the teachers. Finally probably after 20 minutes, I went to the classroom I was assigned to. There I played manh games with the students. They were all so energetic and was so hyped about the game. Other than playing games, I also took the chance to share my experiences, they also took their chance one by one sharing their experiences with God. It was a long talk, some had funny stories, some even had some serious stories that sounded so interesting.

After a few hours, sadly the bell rings and I had finished my mission trip that day. The students were still excited getting to know with the other student so much that they didn’t even care about the bell ringing, they wanted to continued the session. Sadly I was told to met my other friends that have been waiting so before leaving, I took some photos together with the junior high students there and finally said my last goodbyes. Then finally said goodbyes to the teachers, even the primary kids too. Finally, after having lunch and gelato, I went back to the train station with all the other teams.

I soon when on the train, and after 14 hours of trip on a train, said goodbye to the mission trip friends, students, and teachers. I finally completed the Youth in Mission Trip. In conclusion, I felt really exgausted of this trip, but I gotta put on mind that all this journey was a service for God and by that I couldn’t complained for what God has given the chance to me for giving service to other that needed it. That’s it for the timelien of my Mission Trip Journey. Thankyou!
