While participating in the Chamber Ensemble project I am trying to fix my ability to play with others. As a cellist I can be heard more than another people so fixing on my ability to play dynamically will affect how I sound. Being in a smaller group allows people to hear whether or not your intonation is correct so one little slip up can ruin the entire piece. This project will push me to fix the two areas I struggle most with as a musician and allows me to have fun playing music I like. The project also motivates me to practice more at home.

The four pieces we are playing are Adagio and Allegro, Allegro in C major, The Blacksmith, and Eleanor Rigby. The hardest piece is Allegro in C Major and since I am playing this piece in both my Chamber and Philharmonic Orchestra so I can get extra practice on the melodies that I play. I am going to work on measures 1-4 and 23-33 in Eleanor Rigby. These are the hardest parts intonation wise and getting them down will be very beneficial to the piece. In Adagio and Allegro I need to work on my dynamics. The notes are not hard but this piece is a challenge with making it sound beautiful. The Blacksmith's hardest part will be the melodies which will require a lot of practice to make it sound right. As of right now I am enjoying the group and looking forward to working

In the last few weeks I have worked on all of the pieces and the major areas I decided that will need the most attention. They do not sound the best but sound a lot better than when we first got the pieces. Our group has put in work everyday looking at certain areas we struggle with, play them separately, then get back together and play as a group. This style of practice has helped us on certain parts because it allows me to focus on what I need to work on. I have spent several hours a week at home practicing and being able to understand my part has allowed me to be a better cellist.

At this point we are pretty prepared. We have made progress from where we started. For me I improved my ability to hear the other parts and to count properly to stay in the write measure. I was able to get measures 1-4 and 23-33 in Eleanor Rigby down. My intonation and counting were off so practicing these parts definitely paid off. I improved a lot in Allegro in C Major. I was able to improve the melody in this piece which helped me play more confidently. All of the time I spent at home practicing allowed me to improve. I am as ready as I will be and can't wait to preform.

While listening to the video I realized how much I needed to work on measures 1-4 and 23-33 in Eleanor Rigby. We need to work on our intonation as well as keeping count because we would get off slightly. We need to work on a counting for the Fermat at the end so we can finish at the same time. In measures 15-22 and 33-38 we were at our best in the piece. We still need to work here but I am confident we will make these two areas sound the best. As a group we need to work on the first four measures so we can start the song off strong.

As a group we did not all end at the same time but we held it out for the same length. We still need to work on counting but we still have time to work on this piece.

I feel like we improved as a group and as individual performers. From the beginning of the project we struggled with the pieces but we pushed through the entire time. Overall I was not a big fan of this process because we did not always have the entire group together. Yes other groups had people missing but when one person was out, that would leave us with only three instruments instead of four. I feel that if the groups all had at least one cello or bass and two firsts, seconds, and violas the groups would worry less about people missing. This would also allow there to be a more balanced sound due to the fact cellos and basses can over power the other instruments. The performance did not go as well I would hope but if we had more time to practice we could have been more prepared.

A problem for me going through the fine arts program is my inability to retain what I'm taught; this limitation makes learning rhythms to songs very difficult without my teacher's assistance. The reason I picked this to be my goal, excluding the fact that it's a necessity to my betterment, is that I have this same problem in general in all of my classes. I feel like this success will help with my academic everyday life.

Trying to be optimistic as of now. Although it's almost show time and we still can't really play Allegro I feel like this assignment has really helped me with some the problems I've been having. Disregarding Allegero, the rest of our songs have really come along since we've started. I said in my last report that we really would have to buckle down to bounce back and through mostly solo practice, we have. Honestly our main problem through this entire assignment is our ability to play together but Vee has become more confident in his olaying, Gabby has really picked up and made soem of her most detremental parts stand out in the best way, and lastely Philiphas improved the most of all of us. Philip has really made this assignment a breeze with his determination and responsible persona while he takes a great deal of his time to put his all in to his music while also keeping us on track. Although we had a rough start and a few set backs I'm proud of my group and have no doubt we'll do fine.

We did fine. It could have been better but it also could have been much worse. Nerves tripped us up some but overall i felt very good about much of the performance. Our performance started very strong but on my part my hand started to cramp as i felt less and less confident towards the end of it all. Honestly I;d critice segments of all we played and compliment certain parts but in the time alluded to this assignment, I'm happy with our performance. Next time I'll use my time better but overall this project helped me agin with retaining information and being confident in a small group. I'd like to do this assignment again

Wow that was honestly awful.

i missed flats, rushed, played less confidently but at least we pulled through, even though it took dozens of times to act serious enough to record it.

It was much better than how we originally changed. Philip kept tempo, Gabby got her parts down and Vee and I played more confidently. it has, in my opinion, come along a great deal in comparision to how it originally sounded.
