This is the use of people who hold a position of power or authority. An example of this would be having a person in a white lab coat promote a tooth-paste on a commercial, people assume that person is a dentist and therefore think that the tooth-paste must be good. This lab coats gives off the appeal to authority affect, they wear the lab coat so people think that the product is doctor recommended.

Connection: 

This photo is an example of an appeal to authority, they see a person in a lab coat with stethoscope and think they because they are wearing that they must be a real doctor and the product must be good. This is not a logical way of thinking but lots of people believe in it.

This is a technique when a person uses more words then necessary when responding to questions. These unnecessary words often throw the person off of the topic. The easiest explanation of this would be a person who uses too many words when talking which are unnecessary in answering the question or to prove their point.

Connection:
The photo of the doctors light passing right through the dog is an accurate representation of this red flag because people can see right through you even though you are giving wordy responses. Just because you use a lot of words does not mean that you are directing the person away from the topic they can see right through this red flag.

This website outlines the appeal to ancient wisdom and explains why we believe this wisdom is superior in comparison to our modern wisdom. It touches on an important point that we as humans believe the longer something has been around the more we believe it must be true.

This is a reason for belief because we often times go with the answer that is the simplest for us to understand. We don't like to challenge ourselves when coming up for reasons behind certain things. Our brains just believe in things because we think they are simple.

In the beginning of this TED talk he explains how simplicity works and how we use things such as a coffee cup in our everyday life and don't think much about why we use designated cups to drink coffee out of but we just do and we don't question why we just believe.

This is a very common type of belief, we are often times satisfied not knowing why or how something happened. We don't question everything we do we just go with whatever seems right in the situation. If we don't know something we don't always care to find out the answer to that something.

I believe that the problem with the "unexplained" topic is that it is an extraordinary claim, in order to believe that the unknown figures in the background are "ghosts" I would need proof that proves these statements. This is included in the title "unexplained" they have not found any explanation to why or how these figures appear in these images or what these figures actually are. 

In this video below, multiple images are shown with figures in the background of ordinary photos but they are not explained as to what these figures are or what they mean. When the image of the man on the rock was shown it appears their is a mysterious women/man in the background standing with a very skinny figure, the man in the video explained that many people gave input into what they thought this figure may be but no one truly knows. We all naturally give input on the unknown but no one has any real evidence to prove any of our statements. 

I don't think that this source is credible because they don't give any supporting evidence when explaining these sightings. The lack of evidence on this topic makes me more skeptical if these images are made up and if in fact these figures were placed in the background to make people wonder. 

In relation to biases with this topic I believe that people who have seen unexplained figures in the background of their photos are more likely to believe and try to justify. If you research this topic more in-depth you will see that people will try to explain the "unexplained" merely based of personal experiences but with no actual proof. 

I believe that a strong alternative solution would be not to try and prove this theory with factual evidence but to allow people to put their input into what these sightings might mean. It will be nearly impossible to ever prove these sightings are real but we can give insight into the possibilities with little to no biases.
