Create a scenario that includes what you learned this week.

Sibling behaviour in the back seat: Imagine you're driving your family on a long road trip. Your two younger siblings are in the back seat, and as the journey progresses, they start bickering and invading each other's space. You notice this through the rear-view mirror and hear their escalating voices.

Why is it important to have this in your tool kit?

Safety First: As the driver, your primary responsibility is to ensure everyone's safety. Managing distractions is crucial, so knowing how to calmly address the situation without taking your eyes off the road is important.

Leadership and Authority: This scenario allows you to practice asserting your authority calmly and respectfully. You might set clear expectations for behaviour and explain the importance of staying calm for everyone's safety.

Effective Communication: You can use this opportunity to communicate effectively with your siblings. You might suggest a break or a game to redirect their energy, using a calm and firm tone.

Problem-Solving: Finding ways to keep your siblings entertained or occupied can enhance your problem-solving skills. You might plan activities or have a playlist ready to keep them engaged.

Stress Management: Handling this situation helps you practice managing stress and staying focused under pressure, which is valuable in many aspects of life.

What potential harm could occur if you didn’t have this in your tool kit?

Increased Distraction: Without strategies to manage sibling behaviour, distractions could lead to unsafe driving conditions, increasing the risk of accidents.

Escalated Conflict: The lack of effective communication and conflict resolution skills might cause the situation to escalate, leading to more stress and tension in the car.

Stress and Anxiety: Being unable to manage the situation could increase your stress and anxiety levels, affecting your focus and decision-making abilities.

Negative Atmosphere: The car ride could become unpleasant for everyone, affecting family relationships and the overall experience of the trip.

Missed Learning Opportunity: Without addressing the situation, you miss the chance to develop valuable skills like leadership, problem-solving, and stress management.

1. How does the film address the issue of consent and the importance of obtaining clear and enthusiastic consent in intimate situations?

The film stresses that positive, explicit consent must be given before any intimacy occurs. The film depicts consent situations which could be ambiguous or unfortunate in their essence, just to stress the importance of mutual agreement and understanding. In cases where abuses of power emerging from the absence of consent are portrayed, the picture proclaims that consensual interaction should at least be respectful and within the bounds of law.

2. How does the film challenge societal attitudes towards victim-blaming and the way survivors of sexual assault are shown in the media as ‘having done something to deserve it’?

Ideally, it stands against victim blaming, as this is very common. The setup, in which the victims of sexual assaults become accused and condemned for the acts committed by others, opposes this almost-too-familiar-yet-harmful scenario and leads toward an empathetic understanding. This very attitude toward victims and its consequences are spelled out as horrifying by the film, which ultimately calls for society's shift in perspective and support for these victims.

3. Discuss the role of alcohol and intoxication in the film's narrative, and how it intersects with discussions of consent and vulnerability.

The film uses intoxication as a plot device to tackle consent and vulnerability. It is in the portrayal of intoxication that a much more disturbing thought is driven home-that such circumstances can be taken advantage of, with very serious ethical and moral implications.

4. Thinking about the beginning of the clip, what message does the film convey about the importance of bystander intervention in situations of potential harm or danger?

An immensely powerful message about a secondary observer's intervention might, for any subject, exert upon the subject a serious moral demand to act once he observes something and views it as threatening or harmful. There, the viewers are in trouble for the failure to act. The film asks whether the viewers would stand aside and let things happen, or would they try to protect the vulnerable.
