The day of the dead is a Mexican holiday where families offer some tributes to their deceased familiars or friends. The holiday is celebrated from November first to November second.  The origins of this celebration go back 3,000 years, to the rituals honoring the dead in pre-Columbian cultures. Some pre-columbian tribes held a cyclical view of the universe and saw death as an integral part of life. When a person dies, they believed that the person traveled to Chicunamictlán, the Land of the Dead. So basically, the day of the death is a holiday where people who have a lost, offer tributes to the deceased person and it has it origin in the pre-Columbian tribes, where they believed that after dead people went to the land of the dead.
