1. Based your reading of Chapter 3, was Walter McMillian given a fair trial? Do you think race played a part in the outcome of Walter's trial?

2. Do you think race still plays a part in the Criminal Justice system today? How much of the time (what percentage)? Where?...In Rancho Cucamonga? In the State of California? In other regions/parts of the United States? The United States, as a whole?

I feel that race still plays a big part not only here but in the us more so down south the reason why i think this is because when a white police officer pulls over a black person that when race plays a big part in today either they get shot or they arrest them for a reason that they didnt do. another reason why i feel that race still plays a big part in todays world is because Societies use race to establish and justify systems of power, privilege disenfranchisement and oppression. American Anthropological Association states that "the 'racial' worldview was invented to assign some groups to perpetual low status, while others were permitted access to privilege, of any race or color.

1. Walter McMillan was not given a fair trial. Race definitely played a part in it with the all-white jury trial against him. Also, his lawyers were absolutely no help and weren't even fighting for Walter given basically no evidence, or fight when Ralph Myers made up his stories.
2. Race still plays a part in our justice system today in America. I think it's about over 60% all over America race changes the minds of the justice system which is a super racial stereotype and gives no fair trial to the people who could have not committed the crime.
Mike & Johna

I believe race still plays a major part in the Criminal Justice System. There is a possibility that it does occur more than one would hope to believe in the area. Racial profiling has a role in arrests that then spiral into something bigger. Almost 100 million traffic stops were conducted between 2011 and 2017. From that data, minorities were pulled over more frequently based of less evidence of crimes than white drivers.
