Robert Garrett was born into a wealthy family in Baltimore , Maryland.He was a captain on the Track and Field team in Princeton University.In 1896 the first modern Olympics were held in Athens , Greece. Track and Field star Robert Garrett won two gold medals and two silver medals. Garrett performed shop put and long + high jump. Jesse Owens

Jesse Owens was an American track star that was born on September 12 , 1913 . He was born in Oakville , Alabama. Jesse Owens went to Ohio state University. Owens set a world record in running long jump. Owens record stood up for 25 years. He won 4 gold medals at the Berlin Olympics in 1936. In the 100 meter dash he got a time of 10.3 seconds , which was an Olympic record. At the 200 meter run he got a time of 20.7 seconds , which was a world record. Carl Lewis was born on July 1, 1961 in Birmingham , Alabama. Carl Lewis is an american track star. He won 9 Olympic gold medals in the 80s and 90s. At the 1984 games that were held in Los Angles. Carl won gold medals in the 100 metre dash with 9.9 seconds , in the 200 metre with 19.8 seconds , With a long jump he got 28.02 feet. Carl Lewis was the third track star to win 4 gold medals in one Olympics. He got two more gold medals and one silver medal at the 1988 games in Seoul , Korea. Usain Bolt

Usain Bolt was born on August 21 , 1986 in Montego Bay , Jamaica. Usain was a sprinter and he won many medals in the 200 and 100 meter races in the Olympic Games , many people consider him as the greatest sprinter of all time. Usain Bolt was passionate about the soccer teams Manchester United and Real Madrid. Usains coaches at his high school recommended him for track and field. In 2002 Usain dominated the world junior championship in Jamaica national stadium in Kingston.This marked him as a track prodigy. Marion Jones

Marion Jones was born on October 12 , 1975 in Los Angles , California. Marion was the first woman to win 5 gold medals in one single Olympics with track and field. Marion went to The University of North Carolina for basketball not track and field. Through 1995-96 she sat out for basketball to focus on track. She went to the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. She has multiple foot injuries which stopped her from having a chance for the Olympic team. Sha´Carri Richardson was born on March 25 2000 in Dallas Texas. Sha'Carri Richardson is an American track star. She was suppose to go to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics that got postponed to 2021 , but then Sha'Carri tested positive for cannabis in her system and got a one month suspension. She didn't get a spot for the 2021 Olympic american team.
