8. Engage Your Audience: Ask questions or share examples to keep your audience interested.

9. Finish Strong: End by thanking your audience and inviting questions: “Thank you for listening. Do you have any questions?”

A hook is how you grab your audience’s attention at the start of your presentation. It makes them curious and interested in your topic.

Types of Hooks:

1. A Question: Ask something that makes people think. Example: “What would you do if you had only 24 hours to save the planet?”

2. A Short Video or Picture: Show something that connects to your topic. For example, if your topic is about the environment, show a powerful photo of a polluted river.

3. A Surprising Fact or Statistic: Share something your audience may not know. Example: “Did you know that 8 million tons of plastic end up in the ocean every year?”

4. A Story: Tell a quick, interesting story related to your topic. Example: “When I was a child, I dreamed of exploring space. That’s why I’m talking about space exploration today.”

5. A Quote: Use a quote that relates to your topic. Example: “As Albert Einstein said, ‘Imagination is more important than knowledge.’”

How to Choose the Best Hook:

• Think about your audience: What will catch their attention?

• Match the hook to your topic: Make sure it connects directly to what you’ll talk about.

• Keep it short: Your hook should take 30 seconds or less.

A good hook sets the tone for your presentation and makes people excited to listen!
