“because your mother loves freddie mercury from queen,” his father cut in. it was one of the few breakfasts the family had together, after all his parents were constantly on and off. what was supposed to be a one-night stand turned into a situationship that’s somehow still limping along. the chemistry was undeniable. the compatibility? catastrophic. the fights were constant and the two were complete opposites.

freddie’s mother was a beautiful actress, who could charm the pants off of anyone and probably had, thanks to a little gift called manipulation. manipulative, magnetic, and blessed with an overabundance of self-love, she could sell ice to an eskimo and make you thank her for it. she was quick, clever, and completely absorbed in her own success.

meanwhile freddie’s father was a dutiful man that typically went by the book. he was constantly touted to take over the family’s real estate development company, but never seemed to succeed at it just yet, as freddie’s grandparents could never seem to fully part with the business. however, with him needing to care for the company and his incompetent family’s wild antics, it left him a bit self-righteous, thinking how everyone couldn’t survive without him. despite wanting to part from his family and resenting them for it, he could never really part from them.

with his mother busy with herself and her career and his father busy with his company and family, they never truly had time to care for freddie. he was on his own, much more independent compared to his family. yet from the lack of direction and responsible adult figures around him, he was bound for a path of chaos. he was charming in his own fashion, like his mother, while insightful and hyper-competent under chaos, like his father. however, he was manipulative, emotionally unreadable, and sarcastic with a broken compass. he craved real connection, but could never achieve it. he’s burdened by pridefulness and a need for control. he said he wanted peace, but he ran faster towards chaos than a contestant hearing the words “final rose.”

a personality like this was only reconfirmed and accepted at the age of 15. when a reality dating show, korea’s most eligible, started filming at his father’s family mansion, he started sneaking around the set and eventually faked his way into becoming a production assistant there. seasons passed and no one seemed to realize that the show’s most competent pa was actually a teenager. he thrived on the show, connecting with contestants and orchestrating the biggest meltdowns with the precision of a surgeon. it did not take long for him to get promoted to producer, doing this all before graduating from high school.

somehow he kept his illegal working status under wraps until he was 19. when a contestant failed to show up for the show’s first day of filming, the producers scrambled to find someone at the last minute to fill in this spot. with no other choice and only an hour before filming, the producers decided to cast freddie in the show. he was young and cute, but it was then they learned that he just graduated from high school a year before. it finally made sense why he was missing for a couple of days last season. however, there was no time to fire him as they had a show to film.

freddie hated being bossed around as a contestant that season. somehow he thrived as the show’s sweetheart that season. a bit rich, considering his manipulative ways behind the scenes. after the show aired, he became a bit of a minor celebrity, but hated every bit of it. it was this sort of attention that had people looking into his family, still an embarrassing point for him, and leaving him little privacy. he preferred the shadows, a place he could quietly engineer chaos. he just wanted to return back to his position as producer on korea’s most eligible. eventually he returned to his role as producer. the show needed him. who else could incite fights in front of the camera and convince contestants to reveal their deepest, darkest secrets?

it seemed like all was well, but like a true boo, freddie had to screw it all up.

four years ago, freddie ended up in a fling with one of the contestants, something that never happened before. however, he could not help himself. there was something that drew him to her. to make matters worse, he was in what was supposed to be a happy relationship. when his girlfriend realized his little on-set affair, she aired it to the media, which nearly got him fired once again. no matter how good he was at his job, it was one thing for a producer to be fucking around with the contestants for good drama, and it was another to be fucking the contestants and being the drama.

his saving grace came in the form of his mentor, the showrunner of korea’s most eligible. the two of them were working on another reality dating show, perfect match: asia. his mentor insisted that they came as a one-plus-one package. she knew that they needed each other, after all they were the dream team of television. they hoped that they could escape reality tv and work in scripted work, but for now they had to make lemonade with the limes and oranges in hand. freddie owed it to his mentor once again, who saved his ass with their smash hit show that only guaranteed them work for the ongoing future. however, as always, they had to create their success and hopefully make it to bigger and better things.

and as always, freddie was on a tightrope. as a boo, he was bound for trouble. just like the time he was a runaway groom two years ago. then there’s the current case going on at his father’s company with his grandfather being investigated by the government for potential illegal financial issues and dealings.

all he can do for now is bark orders on set, coax contestants for their secrets, and incite another day of drama once again while dealing with bratty influencers on a show for “love.”

now, a mysterious prosecutor arrives in town, looking for the true identity behind the initials “f.b.” (and no, it's not for fucking bastard). when she stumbles across freddie, she pretends to need his help. he pretends to help. they end up in bed anyways. sometimes he's a little too helpful.

they first met during a season they filmed together. the two could never get along. it made sense since freddie was the season's sweetheart and jiwon was the show's villain. that wasn't the last time for them, as they would cross paths again. once when he was producer of korea's most eligible all star season and during the first season of perfect match: asia.

it's unfortunate that muse a is nam jiwon's fan. they seem to know every detail about jiwon. heck, they even travelled to conventions to see nam jiwon. since freddie's a producer, muse a always asks him about jiwon. just the slightest bit of crumbs. what was like like living with jiwon? what's jiwon's favourite food? who's jiwon dating now?

as much as freddie hates jiwon's guts, he does not have the heart to crush muse a's heart. also he doesn't want to lose another viewer. all he can do is shut up and smile, hoping that muse a will get bored some day or jiwon does something so incredibly stupid that muse a will stop being a fan. however, the latter seems more likely.

under her command, every show she touches turns into gold. despite her cold personality and iron grip, somehow she create some of the most romantic shows on television. love sells and she knows how to package it, despite not believing in it herself.

she's a control freak, addicted to power, manipulative as hell. beneath it all, she's haunted by loneliness. sometimes she watches the footage from her shows and wonders if she's jealous. not of the fame or airtime, but of the connection. the thing her contestants chase, fake, and if lucky enough stumble into. the one thing she's never let herself want.
