This book has both.  Also my dad recommended this book to me and he has not been wrong before with his recommendations. In fact I have read most of my favorite books because of him.

I am also going to read White Fang, by Jack London. It is supposed to be a classic and everyone loves it. Also, this book has some nostalgic properties to me because my dad read me the kids version when I was a lot younger.  I have read other books by Jack London (The Call Of The Wild) and enjoyed them.


I might also read a book called punching the air which my sister reccomended to me. Conflict: Yossarian struggles to get through WWII. Theme: People are crazy; war is crazier. Irony is everywhere. The other characters affect the plot most, without them there would be no story, as they make up a lot of the side conflict.   • I was not able to emphasize with Yossarian. He is nothing like me, and we are in completely different situations. 
  • One way I felt for Yossarian is his complete faith in the fact that, the world is a terrible place. It must be awful to go through life feeling like that.
  • One way the story could have gone differently is if Yossarian was not in a combat post. He would have not had to make life or death decisions, and would therefore feel less pressure. The author definitely did this on purpose to show the true horror of war

    • I have never had to fight in a war thankfully, so I do not know what that is like.
    • I have never done the number of things Yossarian has done, to get out of doing something. Maybe because I have never wanted to get out of something so bad.
    • I have never known someone who is crazy, whereas Yossarian knows many.
