This entire unit has completely changed my understanding and knowledge of food preservation, many things that I didn't even know before I know now thanks to this unit. Though I learned several methods, I would probably only use I'd say like 2 or 3 of them. The knowledge of food preservation I learned hopefully will be crucial in my own personal life, if anything ever happens that requires that sort of knowledge.

Many of these food preservation methods learned and discussed in this unit have been known to contribute a lot in terms of community wide food preservation, I learned how crucial access to things like refrigeration, and the access to non-processed fresh food like fruits. I've understood that these factors at play are able to greatly reduce the consequences of food waste (which is rampant in low-income communities)

With many different methods to food preservation, there are many environmental implications to think about and the effects of these implications. Like many things nowadays, energy consumption can be hefty, since one my use multiple methods like boiling, refrigeration, all sorts, and the resources needed to undertake these methods. One key thing to think about is if whether the method your using is alright for the environment, or has some sort of consequence.

Another thing I have learned is the Social and Economical impact and implications on food preservation within communities, particularly in low-income ones. I've learned that there are several programs like SNAP, that have impacts within these topics, with their benefit programs having a small impact upon local economies, and a few job opportunities. Those in these communities helping each other with preservation also fosters social connections that in dire times, may be crucial.

Another crucial thing I have learned is the need for technology nowadays in terms of food preservation, like refrigeration. within low-income communities, the distributions of preserved (or canned) foods can be a challenge, which is something to think about.
