Floating cities concept is simple. The city’s structure is made up of several interconnected platforms that float on the ocean. Each of the platforms has specific purposes and is connected through bridges.
They can be built anywhere where there is water and an abundance of resources to build with.

Why do we need floating cities?
The global population is expected to reach 10 billion by 2050. This will lead to a rise in urbanization and the need for more housing meaning there will be more problems such as overcrowding and pollution.

Creating larger-scale underwater habitation wouldn’t only benefit research. Proponents maintain it could help alleviate over-population problems, or guard against the possibility of natural or man-made disasters that render land-based human life impossible.
A giant sphere, 500 meters in diameter, would hold a tower with hundreds of apartments and larger homes, stores, offices, a hotel, and research facilities.
The city could automatically generate all of the energy it needs, using the temperature difference between surface water and the deep sea to make thermal power.
“The deep sea contains enormous possibilities that can possibly help ongoing environmental problems throughout the world”

Above all, the greatest advantage of underground construction is energy efficiency. The subterranean temperature of the earth remains stable, hence the underground living structures can leverage the benefits from geothermal mass and heat exchange.
Underground cities can be well protected from fire outbreaks, earthquakes, hurricanes and high winds, hailstorms etc.
Subterranean houses have a natural insulating property due to which creates a greenhouse-like environment indoors making it viable to grow plants. The space left above the ground can be used to grow a lawn or even turned into a mini-farm.
