When Mary-Kate was in high school, she went to parties with her friends and they all did drugs such as marijuana, ecstasy, and cocaine. She became addicted to cocaine and alcohol at a young age. This became a big deal in the media but Mary-Kate and her family did't say much about it. Her body guard claimed to have seen her drinking, smoking, and doing drugs. She didn't have a good self image, which is why she drank, smoked, and did drugs. She also became anorexic due to negative self image and low self esteem. She pushed away her family because she didn't wan to face that fact that she has an eating disorder or that she had an addiction. Two days before her 18th birthday, her father sent her to a rehab center where many other stars who struggled with drug addiction went to recover. It seemed to have helped her greatly, as she no longer does drugs and is eating properly.
