Differences:
Primary school: Teachers are to accompany the class when they move from one location to another location in the primary school. This is to ensure safety of the students and to ensure that students do not go missing.
Primary school: Teachers are to stay in the classroom and wait for the next teacher to arrive before leaving.

Procedure:
1) Buddy system to be set-up. Walk with your buddy and as a class. Follow the specific lanes demarcated for movement.
2) Stop at specific checkpoints to ensure the class is always walking together.
3) Ensure that volume is low e.g. play a game where everyone is supposed to be tip-toe from one location to another. For lower primary, can consider placing a finger on lips as they walk. Teacher can use pre-determined signs to signal the students to perform specific actions.

Considerations:
1) Safety
2) Noise level

Class rules:
Students should participate in drafting the rules
Constant reminder of class rules for P5 (compared to higher levels)
Praises / compliments/ award system
Considerations - primary level students require more constant reminder. The affirmation will also allow students to feel greater relatedness to abiding by the class rules.

Movement:
Clear structure and routine: Students line up in twos, do a headcount, move to next venue and upon reaching, do a headcount again. Teacher will accompany the students. A buddy system can be implemented to place more responsibility on each other.
Consideration: safety of young kids and needs more guidance.

JC/ Sec school students are more independent and can be expected to transit to the other venues themselves (which will also develop their independence and impress on them the importance of being responsible for their own actions).

Movement: Have a few checkpoints along the way. Need to give reminders and instructions along the way. Student safety, no shoving and running. Emphasize that students need to care for one another and look out for each other when they are outside the classroom.

Rules: Set expectations at the start of lesson and be firm with students. The steps should be easy to understand and follow. The rules should be tie in with the values. E.g. Responsibility in learning
