Susie and Phil moved into our cottage on our farm in Ruebe Road and we instantly became friends as new mothers. When they moved to their home in Runciman Road she gave me the "Moosewood Cookbook" by Mollie Katzen and has been well used over the years. We continued our friendship at Pukekohe East Play centre. Her vibrant and some what alternative lifestyle was enjoyed by many of us young mothers. She will be a loss to this world. A true woman of strength and courage, a caring mother and individual.

I feel so sad for the family and I feel proud to have met and known this remarkable woman.

Sue and Barry McMiken

60 Ruebe Road.

Wow. It’s quite something to have an old friend pass.

It feels like you’re the first of our group… and that lands deep.

When Phil messaged me to say you’d passed on, transitioned, I had to pause.

And then, like a flood, all these feelings came—

memories from that golden time.

TColl, 36B Brooklyn Rd flat... with you, Carol, and Shona.

The parties. The laughter. The way you lit up a room with that unmistakable spark.

You were the life of it, Susie—

so much imagination, that deliciously quirky humor,

and the way you could shift someone’s whole day

just by offering a new lens, a wink, a twist in perspective.

You had a gift for making things lighter. Brighter.

Even when things were messy.

I remember calling to see you and Phil in those early family days out in Bombay,

hearing the warmth in your voices,

seeing your little tribe growing.

It was cool.

But no matter how many years passed,

we were always bound by those times—

the stretch of life where everything is raw and real and full of becoming.

If I was to describe you…

You were Intelligent. Sexy. Funny. Imaginative. Creative. Compassionate

And that is why you infuse so much of my memory—

you’re stitched into the fabric of those formative years.

So even though it’s been twenty-five years since we saw each other—

your presence hasn’t dimmed.

Your memory lives on.

It lives deep.

Safe travels, Susie.

With love, Ross

Dear Aunty Susie,

I have loved having you as an aunty and fellow creative, artistic soul. Your infectious joy and unique quirky personality have been such an inspiration for the person I am now, and these are certainly traits I am passing on to my own kids, Evie and Blake. I remember a few years ago when I saw you at the Mt, and how my young daughter Evie who must have been about 3 at the time loved pulling mischevious faces with you. She was so thrilled to have an adult publically joining her in the kind of primal joyous play usually reserved for close family. This was a big reminder that we don't have to care what other people think of us, and that doing so gets in the way of being our authentic selves... We'll miss you, but we'll never forget the true joy you brought to every interaction and the love you shared with us all. Thanks for being uniquely you. Big Love from all the rest of the Tuckers who couldn't make it to the funeral today.

Your fellow creative, artistic nephew

- Eli
