Many thanks for the pleasure of your company over the last 12 years…you gave me a very warm welcome when I started at Strathclyde that I very much appreciated, and you’ve been a really great colleague since! One of the lovely things about working at Strathclyde is the great admin team: you’re all brilliant at your jobs but also a lovely bunch of genuinely nice people. I truly hope that you have a lovely well-deserved time during your retirement, and fingers crossed this craziness ends very soon so that you can get cracking with all your retirement plans!

I genuinely find it difficult to believe that it has been 44 years since we were both “juniors” in the Department and you’d already been here for a year! Time really does fly when you’re enjoying yourselves.

I’ll forever be grateful for your fantastic support while I was HoD – it really was above and beyond the call of duty. And the experience certainly would not have been nearly as enjoyable without your good-humoured encouragement to keep me right; I have very happy memories of many shared laughs along the way.

A great pity we don’t get to say goodbye properly now –  and also miss a final Christmas party! -though it’ll be great to catch up in the New Year, once normality is restored… and keep in touch. I hope you have the long, healthy and happy retirement you deserve, no doubt (eventually) spending part of your new-found leisure enjoying more travelling and visits to the grandchildren. Very best wishes for the future
