How am I feeling about the task ahead?

I have just read over the task and watched a few of the example videos and honestly I am feeling lost, uncertain and very overwhelmed. I am some what excited because I have always wanted to be able to create something like this and now I get to learn all the tools to be able to. I have previously composed my own music as part of an assessment at school so I know that part shouldn't be too hard but still the whole overall task is very daunting at this point.

For my target audience I am going to try and speak to both males and females in the age group of 20-40. I have chosen this group because people in this group tend to at least know one person with Type 1 and I find it is essential to teach them as well as educate them in case they have kids who are diagnosed with Type 1. The message is 'Continuous Glucose Monitoring is essential for all Type 1 Diabetics, not just a few. Sign the Petition.' To capture their attention I am going to list facts about Type 1 that are unknown or that people get mixed up with Type 2. I'm also going to show how it helps and how much easier it i for people to live when they have a cgm. I really did struggle with narrowing done this age group as I believe it is essential for everyone to be taught about Type 1 Diabetes and ways it can be helped and eased for people who are living with it.

The colours I have chosen are blue for the main and then orange/yellow as a complementary colour. I have chosen the blue because it evokes strength and trust, the orange/yellow evokes confidence, warmth and optimism. The font I have chosen is Helvetica Neue. For the titles I a planning to use it bolded and then just regular for the other paragraph writing. I have chosen this font because it is clear and precise, nice and rounded. It is also easy to read and follow along to.

Annotated Bibliographies

Beck, R W, Hirsch, I B, Laffel, L & Tamborlane, W 2009, ‘The Effect of Continuous Glucose Monitoring in Well-Controlled Type 1 Diabetes’, Diabetes Care, vol. 32, no. 8, pp 1378-1383

This source highlights how beneficial Continuous Glucose Monitors are good for both children and Adults. I found this to be a highly useful source as I was able to learn more about the benefits and will be able to use this information to create my video.

Deiss, D, Bolinder, J, Riveline, J-P, Battelino, T, Bosi, E, Tubiana-Rufi, N, … Phillip 2006, ‘Improved Glycemic Control in Poorly Controlled Patients with Type 1 Diabetes Using Real-Time Continuous Glucose Monitoring’, Diabetes Care, vol. 29, no. 12, pp 2730-2732

Once again, this source showed that continuous glucose monitors have a positive effect on diabetics. This source was the smallest source I’ve looked at but still has some very valuable knowledge and has helped to give a more overall view of how continuous glucose monitors help.

Langendam, M, Luijf, Y M, Hooft, L, Hans DeVries, J, Mudde, A H, Scholten, R 2012, ‘Continuous glucose monitoring systems for type 1 diabetes mellitus’, Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, pp 1-113

I didn’t find this source as useful as it doesn’t seem to give as complete results. The source doesn’t give me as much knowledge that I could use in my video. The source didn’t give me as much content as the others.

Liu, N, Brown, A, Folias, A, Younge, M, Guzman, S, Close, K, Wood, R 2017, ‘Stigma in People With Type 1 or Type 2 Diabetes’, Clinical Diabetes, vol. 35, no. 1, pp 27-34

This source focuses on the stigma diabetics face, it highlights that it is tough to live with diabetes and can cause burn out among many diabetics. I found this to be a source that was good to read as it really cemented what I knew about stigma within Diabetes.

Tamborlane, W, Beck, R, Bode, B, Buckingham, B, Chase, H P, Clemons, R, . . . Xing 2008, ‘Continuous Glucose Monitoring and Intensive Treatment of Type 1 Diabetes’, The New England Journal of Medicine, vol. 359, no. 14, pp 1464-1476

This source highlights that Continuous Glucose Monitors were shown to improve control in adults with Type 1. I found this to be a highly useful source as it gave me some facts that I could use in my video.
