The Mayan civilization lasted for 3,500 years from 2000 B.C.E. to 1500 C.E. It was gargantuan and at its peek it included some of present-day southern mexico and a majority of central America.
The Maya reached its peek between 200 and 900 C.E. During this time a majority of Mesoamerica was infested with Mayan culture. They lived in the rainforests and mountains. They built their civilization based on ideas from the Olmec. The Mayan civilization arose in 2000 B.C.E. The times have been divided into three main periods: Pre-Classic,Classic, and Post-Classic. During the Pre-Classic times they farmed land and lived in simple houses or compounds, or groups of buildings. As they Develpoed they began to develop their own system of hieroglyphic writing. During the Classic period when they reached their peak they improved on Olmec building techniques. They tracked the movements of the moon, stars, and sun and combined it with their knowledge of astronomy and mathematics to make one of the most accurate calendars. During the Post-Classic period wich lasted from 900 C.E. to 1500 C.E. they had fewer artistic and cultural achievments. They weren'teven a unifiedation they were a collectionof city states with seperate governments.
Their social class was sperated into five different layers. The first layer was the ruler: he ruled his state with a group of advisors and was considered a god king. The second layer was nobles and priests: the nobles made sure that everything wasgoing according to plan in the state. They also gathered the labor, taxes, and resources for big projects. The priests were very important because they were their connections to the gods. They lead all of the sacrafices, rituals, and even lead armies of peasants into war. The third layer was merchants and artisians: trade and craft was an important thing in the mayan economy and were done by merchants and artisians. The fourth layer was peasants: the peasants where thefarmers in the society and made everythingrun. If they weren't farming they were bulding. The fifth and very bottom layer was slaves:slaves had no say in what they do and they had no rights. They were buyable property that worked all day.

Aztecs were divided into five social classes. The ruler, who was considered semi-divine. The position was not hereditary but a group of advisors picked a candidate said emperors family. The Government Officials, Priests, and military leaders, the group of government officials who were very important. Commoners, the people who weren’t rich or poor and enjoyed many privileges. Peasants, The 30% of aztecians who were very poor. They had privileges but were considered inferior to commoners. Slaves, the people who were at the bottom of society. They were property to people who could afford them

Aztec society was heavily based around religion. They thought without religion they couldn’t live. They adopted different gods from other cultures as their own such as tlaloc the rain god who was worshiped by the mesoamericans and Quetzalcoatl who was worshiped by the teotihuacans.they thought the sun was a warrior who fought darkness each night and the only way to keep him strong was a blood sacrifice. This is why their sacrifices required so much blood. People who were higher up in the social classes would get their blood by pricking their skin with cacti.
