Zakat (Obligatory Charity): Zakat is a fundamental pillar of Islam, requiring Muslims to give a fixed portion of their wealth (usually 2.5%) to specific recipients, such as the poor and needy. For example, a business owner who pays zakat ensures their wealth is purified while helping others sustain their basic needs.

Sadaqah (Voluntary Charity): Unlike zakat, sadaqah is given freely in any amount and form, including money, food, or even a kind gesture like a smile. A student who helps their friend with studies or donates food to the hungry is practicing sadaqah.

The Impact of Charity: Both zakat and sadaqah purify the heart from greed, reduce poverty, and strengthen social bonds. Giving sincerely earns blessings and forgiveness, benefiting both the giver and the receiver.

In conclusion, Zakat and Sadaqah are essential forms of charity in Islam that help purify the heart, reduce poverty, and foster unity among Muslims. Zakat is a mandatory contribution, ensuring wealth is distributed fairly to those in need, while Sadaqah is voluntary and can be given in various forms, including kindness and assistance. By practicing both, Muslims strengthen their faith, earn rewards, and contribute to a more compassionate society.
