The graph is divided into 13 bars, each standing for a time span of five years. The size of the bar gives information about migrated people. The number on the bottom, tells about the number in millions of people. There is also given a percentage number, standing for migrants as a percentage of the global population. The grah shows a significant increas from 1965 to 2005, in general. A constant rise from 17.6 million migrants between 1965 and 70 to 28.1 million migrants between 1985 and 90 can be seen. In the next five years there is a rapid increase of over 10 million people. After that the number decreases again to 33.8 million from 1995 to 2000. The biggest number is 45.8 million people. This means 0.69% of the global population migrated, between 2005 and 10. The following five years 45.1 million people and 0.65% migrated. After a peek in this decade the number is decreased to 41.1 million people.

As you can see the percentage number of migrants is nearly staying the same over the time. But the columns with the number in millions of people is changing the whole time. This shows that the world population as a whole increase and that’s why the number of migrants also increase. The people are fleeing because of war situations, economy problems or natural catastrophes.

Social identity theory show that we put people either in an In-Group, in which we tend to stress the similarities, and an Out-Group in which we tend to stress the differences. Doing this will highlights our more favourable In-Group, raising our self-esteem. Which influences out behaviour.
These kind of Groups can have a larger impact than one can imagine, beacuse depending on the feedback we get from the groups we either see ourself as competent or incompetent.
