The Great Gatsby. This book has a lot of drama. If you enjoy drama then this book may be for you. This book heavily focuses on Nick, his relationships with others around him, and how he gets involved with their drama. The reader also knows the internal thoughts of Nick and since he is involved in all of the drama he knows many things that the other characters may not know. This book was very good in my opinion. I enjoyed it because you never knew what was gonna happen next. It always kept me on the edge of my seat. "I wasn't actually in love, but I felt a sort of tender curiosity" (Fitzgerald 38).

Why do we read Gatsby?

There could be many reasons why we still read Gatsby. The book has many underlying meanings. It also has very complex relationships between the characters. Making it challenging to keep track of it all. The characters also go through very drastic changes throughout the story. Gatsby was very quiet and kept to himself at the beginning of the book. Yes, he may have hosted parties but he was never in attendance himself. By the end of the book, he was good friends with Nick and was more social with the people that were around him. Showing this drastic character development makes the book still relevant to today's readers. " And I hope she'll be a fool-that's the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool" (Fitzgerald 16). This shows that society did not make much of women at the time.

Gatsby's Parties

His parties were known for being wild and crazy. People he didn't even know had shown up to engage with friends. Only a few select people were sent invitations, others just showed up as they pleased for the free food and drinks. Gatsby had gone out of his way to send Nick a personal invitation to his party. "And I like large parties. They're so intimate. At small parties there isn't any privacy" (Fitzgerald 34). This shows that Jordan is almost always at Gatsby's parties even without an invitation.

Playlist Explanation

I choose playlists for Gatsby and Daisy because I feel that it can really show their personalities and the way things had ended between them. For Gatsby's playlist I wanted to include the party lifestyle he had but also wanted to show that he was kind of sad because of how he had not seen Daisy in many years. For Daisy's playlist I wanted to show how she parties a little bit. However I also wanted to show that she also misses Gatsby but she still has feelings for Tom. "It's a great advantage not to drink among hard drinking people" (Fitzgerald 50). Nick had not wanted to drink as much at the parties at first. However that had quickly changed as he had started to drink more and more every time he went to Gatsby's

Alternate Ending

After Gatsby and Mr. Wilson had been found dead the news had been relayed to Daisy and Tom. Tom then realized he was the reason Gatsby had been murdered. Once Daisy had found out she was heartbroken. She knows it was all her fault. She lives with this guilt every single day. It got to the point where it was so bad that she couldn't do it anymore. She decided to be with Gatsby forever. She was later found dead. Some people say she had died from a broken heart. Some say it was Tom. I guess we will never know. "Let us learn to show our friendship for a man when he is alive and not after he is dead" (Fitzgerald 105). They should have supported Gatsby in his time of need instead of using him for their benefit.

This project is a demonstration of 5 different genres. All genres and individual and not reliant on each other. I choose book review because I wanted to give an inside look as to what I personally thought of the book itself. I also choose alternate ending because I believe it's a different approach of thinking about what happened at the end. It shows some of the millions of possibilities that could have happened. Why do we still read gatsby? I choose this one because it helps explain why we still read this book a hundred years later and how it is still relevant in today's classrooms. I made a playlist for Gatsby and Daisy because I think music is a huge part of our lives and it can help us express feelings that words can't describe. Lastly I picked party invites because parties where a big part of Gatsby's character and his story in the book. He was always hosting these big parties and get togethers.
