Unit 3 discusses the communication in the research process. It is proclaimed that the research proposal is the first step in the communication process between management and the researcher. It provides the reader with all the reasons why the study should be undertaken and all the gainers who will benefit. It also provides information on the design of the project, how the data will be analysed, the qualifications of the research personnel, and other information such as the time schedule within which the project will be completed.

It further deliberates how similar the research proposal and the research report is. It entails that the research proposal is written to communicate what will be done and the research report is written to communicate what was done and findings of the study. Lastly, the unit explains the oral presentation part of the process. It provides insight on how to communicate and engage the audience about the findings of the report.

Overall, this unit played a huge part of me learning how to produce a research proposal and report. I used this unit to guide me in the right direction in terms of that.

After studying unit 4 I learned all about the research design. The research design provides a detailed plan for conducting research of a topic under investigation. It also discussed in depth about qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods approaches to research and related these to exploratory, causal and descriptive designs in business research. Later on in session 2 reviewed the concept of measurement and session 3 teaches about probability and non-probability sampling and how to select sample designs. Primarily, from this unit I learnt intensively about sampling and use of sampling and non-sampling designs to select samples from a larger population.
