For my 15 minutes of observing the nature I went a hike/run through the mountains. Man was it beautiful from being from Kansas I have never seen anything like it. I saw a lot of different types of birds while going along, even though I really didn't know what kinds of birds they were. As I was going up this trail I happened to see a lot of bear poop and I started to get worried but I am lucky I didn't come across one. One thing that really caught my attention was the creek I came across. It was very beautiful and crystal clear I never seen anything like it. On my hike/run I felt very relax and it made me just feel very happy.

My friends wanted to go watch the sunset so I decided I could use it as my 15 minute observation of nature. We first drove up to this point, I forget what it's called, but it was too far to walk. At first I had trouble relaxing because it was so high up, the picture doesn't seem as high. Once the sun was setting it was so beautiful to focus on the changing colors. In the end it was very calming and I need to do it more often because it's refreshing in a different way.

I went out and watched the autumn leaves fall to the ground. I noticed lots of lantern flies, an invasive bug that kills trees. I stepped on a few and squished as many as I found. There are strict instructions to do so in every building in Pennsylvania. I obviously don't enjoy squishing bugs everywhere I go but for this one instance I think it is more than excusable.

Since during Covid we are always inside most the time especially now with classes online, I decided to go outside and do the 15 minute observation. Before I went to work I went into Graeagle early just to sit at the mill pond. It pretty cold that day, it was definitely feeling like fall. It windy that day and the leaves were all changing and falling. The water looked so blue with the sky reflecting off of it. It was nice just to sit there and do nothing and just clear my head.

Danielle Blust-
During this time, Plumas County was surrounded by forest fires. When i would observe outside I felt scary, worrisome, and uneasy about the future of the town i grew up in. Quincy has been such a beautiful home to live in for all of my 23 years of life, and to wonder if it was going to survive a fire, had my feeling very unsettled. Plumas county is known for the rural beauty of the mountains and trees but every year around the same time we are always threatened with the loss of the beauty. During this experience I felt concerned if living in such a beautiful place is worth the uneasy summers and the thought of when it will come to an end.

We received many trash bags full of plastic bottles, glass bottles, and metal cans from the firefighters fighting the Northern California fires. Our job is to separate the plastic from the metal and glass and place them in separate trash bag. This is a good way for us to raise money for our team and clean up the environment.

For my 15 minute observation, I went on a hike with my father up near Truckee CA. We came upon this massive tree (looks bigger in person) and I took the time to think about how long this tree may have been living for. I honestly have no idea, but i am sure it has been around for awhile. Also, while being near this tree it made me think of how small humans really are. It puts life into perspective that we truly are tiny and beyond just us and our earth, who knows how big things can get. I also saw a couple deer, it was peaceful.

I went on a hike to the Q at night and I observed a lot of things. First I used my eyes to just observe our little town we live in and how small it really looks from up there. I think I saw an owl flying but I'm not quite sure what kind of bird it was. I saw the moon shining brightly onto our town making it look beautiful. I also saw cars driving up and down our streets. Then I closed my eyes for a bit and just tried to listen. And it was completely silent. No animal sounds or nothing, just the sound of the wind blowing through the trees.

I was observing everything around me, there were so many tall trees and a nice breeze of wind. I saw all different type of cars and houses. There was a family of birds just relaxing at one of the houses in its bird house. There was a bunch of leaves on the ground and different colored leaves everywhere I turned around.

Recently I had to drive home for about a week or so and while I was at home I helped my mom with her greenhouse. As of my observation, on my drive back to Quincy during the day(which I had only done at night) I admired the beautiful nature that plumes county had that I had never realized before. I pulled out in multiple spots to stop, admire and clear my mind.

I went observing in upper park in Chico. I went on a hike while it was raining, I experienced some strong winds especially when I started climbing elevation. The skies were all cloudy but I could see some sunlight far away. The rain was off and on throughout the hike but it wasn't too cold out there. I didn't see too much wildlife out there probably because of the weather conditions. It was really a nice and fun hike.

I went on a mini hike through the woods by my street the other day and observed the world around me. Some birds chirping, the trees, etc. I even managed to find a nice walking stick. Though there was this one cool tree I found that was formed in like a half circle ring with overlapping branches. It seemed like something straight out of a fantasy story. It was raining when I went out, but with my winter jacket I didn't really get wet. I would love to explore larger and bigger forests, ones that I can really get lost in.

Today, I went on a 2 mile jog by the Columbia river. During this jog I observed some of the many things that nature had to offer. Even with it being cold I could see a few fish jumping out of the water which is very odd this time of year. I also got to witness running by a birds nest, even with no birds present I thought it was fascinating how they come to collect materials and build their own place. As dogs ran around at various parks that I ran by I noticed it started to rain outside, Hard. I decided to run back home and sit on my porch to enjoy the rain as it fell at my feet.

Today, I planted a baby fig tree in my back yard. Not only are trees good for the environment because they produce oxygen through photosynthesis. This tree will also produce fruit that will be good to eat. We should all take steps to better the environment and simple things like planting a tree are a win-win for everybody!
