Quote 1: "How's she really doing... She's in this dark, moody phase. She ignores her curfew, and half the time I can't get more than a 'whatever' when I try to talk to her." (p19)

When Ronnie first arrived at the beach, her mother explained to her dad that she was going through a very moody phase. She wasn't happy, and she wasn't playing music anymore which was something she loved to do. When her parents got divorced, Ronnie stopped playing the piano because it was something her and her dad would do together.

One of the key parts of the story was the plot about the loggerhead turtle eggs. Ronnie first noticed the eggs when they were laid outside of her house. She immediately found interest in keeping them safe. She spent the night outside protecting them. When she called the Aquarium, the person sent to report them was Will. Will ended up staying with Ronnie outside, one night to help protect the eggs. This was the second time Ronnie really met Will and realized how good of a person he was.
