Hair
  • Would use greasy pomade and styling your hair into different dos(Black)
  • They would comb the sides until they met the middle that was the ducktail (Niven)
  • Greasers would put grease to hold the hair in place and used the rest of grease for the top of their hair (Niven)
  • The grease was for height and the hair smoothed back (Niven)
  • People might leave a little curl of the side of the forehead(Niven)

Style
  • If you wore leather jacket, that meant you rode a motorcycle (Black)
  • Suits were popular, but they would wear cardigans- this made them look casual and neat(Niven)
  • Greasers would wear jeans and white or black t-shirts, leather jackets and boots instead of a suit and cardigan (Niven)
  • Greasers were the tough guys at school(Niven)

Outfits
  • Girls wore dresses and skirts to school everyday. 
  • They wore jeans at home and they weren’t called jeans, they were called dungarees. 
  • Some women wore pencil skirts, which hugged around the hips. 
  • Some dresses had built in corsets. 
  • Woman wore gloves just to dress their style up. 
  • Women wore very feminine shoes like high heels with bright colors. 
  • Teenagers liked to wear saddle shoes.
  • Men and women both wore saddle shoes.
  • Teenage Girls weren’t allowed to wear jeans.

Hair
  •  Women wore hats in the early 50s and not the late 50s. 
  • Women slept in rollers so their hair could be curly. Some other popular hair styles included pony tails, bouffant, poodle cut, the pompadour, and ducktail. 

Accessories 
  • Tiny waists were wanted in the 50’s. 
  • Purses came with rings on the side, so you would be able to put your gloves in. 
  •  People didn’t wear contacts ever, and instead wore glasses. 
  • Women wore corsets to make their waist smaller.
