Dred Scott was a court case brought to the supreme court as it was presented he was born in a free state. Dred Scott was a man from a free state fighting for his right of independence. The Case was stated in 1857 with Dred Scott going into the supreme court to fight for his rights of freedom. The Supreme court being mostly made up of almost all white men came to a conclusion of Dred Scott not having his freedom but not just Dred Scott but all the African Americans dont have the right to be citizens. The court Case ended with no African Americans be able to have citizenship in the United States of America

Election of Abraham Lincoln

This Election took place in 1850 With the North picking Abraham Lincoln and the south not wanting him in office since he was a republican. With the North out waying the south with votes Abraham Lincoln won the votes making him the new president of the united states

Ft. Sumter

Ft. Sumter was the battle that started it all. Ft. Sumter began on April 12th 1861 When someone shot their gun which started the war off to begin with. The battle was not a long one only lasting 2 days until April 14th 1861.The leader of the confederate was general piece and the leader for the Union was Maj.Robert Anderson. Maj.Robert leading the Union in this first battle did what they could but the Confederate had more soldiers making them outweighing the union making them leave Ft. Sumter and retreat leading in an decisive confederate victory.

Bull Run

The Battle of Bull Run started on July 21st 1861. It started off with Gen. Pierre G. T. Beauregard with him leading a small troops into confederate territory to test how strong their defenses were. leading into small casualties and little results. The battle of the Fiercest fighting of the new war had begun with the Union rushing at the confederate. The confederate had strong defenses it was stated to be 'like a stone wall' the way they held their ground. at the end the union side had to go back to Washington with the fight ultimately being over with an decisive confederate victory.

Antietam

The battle of Antietam started on September 16th 1862 and lasted to September 18th 1862. With this nickname of this battle being "The battle that turned the water red". Maj. Gen. George mounted a serious of powerful attacks against the confederate. But the confederate flunk and retreated a bit to land strong counter attacks against the Union. The union never broke away and stayed strong with them still sending strong and powerful assaults and on the third try the confederates left side flanked. which gave them the advantage with the union winning the war not to long after. Since the battle they won Abraham Lincoln created the Emancipation proclamation. But sadly even tho we have won this war there was a lot of casualties with 6 thousand dead and 75 thousand injured

Gettysburg

The battle of Gettysburg picks up on the day of the end of the battle of Vicksburg starting from July 1st 1863 and lasting till July 3rd 1863. Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee launched his second invasion of the Northern states hoping to capitalize on the confederate wins going into northern territory winning and forcing Abraham Lincoln to do a peace treaty. Confederate had swept the Union at first but could not hold their footing. But the Union prevailed and pushes the confederate to a river which then was a battle fought for 2 days. At the end Confederate had failed. But both sides had suffered great casualties with having 51 thousand casualties on both sides. The Union won the war which caused them to capture the Mississippi river splitting the south in half and making it easier to fight them in this war.

Vicksburg

The battle of Vicksburg started may 18th 1863 through july 1st 1863 with it being an extremely long battle. Vicksburg was an area The union were trying to get to for several months and with this being able to the battle began with the confederate staying strong and defending Vicksburg. But the Mississippi river town was crucial to the Union being able to control the strategic river. The Union would start sending many powerful attacks for several weeks but not after many successes they had settled into the land. The confederate after several weeks without any reinforcements and any supplies eventually surrendered. With the Surrender of the confederate the battle of Vicksburg was won by the Union

Appomattox Court House

Appomattox Court House was in April 9 1965. The final battle of the war The Union troops cut of the the Confederate to get to the generals on North Carolina. Another part of the Union burned 3 of the confederates supply trains. Which lead to the Confederate attacking the Union. But at the end general lee of the confederacy was trapped and 3 days later it was formally disbanded. There were Similar surrenders aross the south and marked the end of the Civil War. Union Wins the civil war
