In the process of uncovering more information about the Isaac Woodard case, Michele discovers how similar the lives of the white policemen, who were involved in the Woodard case were to the Norris family. She uncovers how the south's tortured history has consequently made it hard for whites to participate in racial discussions due to the guilt of their actions. Although white policemen repeatedly administered acts of violence towards blacks, they were silent about it at home or years afterwards. Michele also converses with Audrey Justice where she learns about his views on the police force. She talks about how Justice was a mirror of her father and concludes that segregation can go both ways.
