Symbol 1 : The Wilderness

The wilderness is important to Canada due to it's vast amount of it. For centuries, the wilderness has been an integral part of Canada's survival, and anyone who has lived off of the land. It is very hard to find somewhere in Canada without wilderness or nature parks. The closest one to us is the Huron Natural Area which is monitored but other than that, is free. The aboriginals have used the land, and cared for it for centuries and so have we. Without the wilderness, Canada would not have it's unique charm that it does have. Over 90% of the population of Canada is within 600 kilometers of the American boarder. Which only takes up 10% of Canada's living space. Canada is so vast and large and has many different landscapes. The rocky cliffs of Newfoundland and Labrador; the flat plains of Saskatchewan; the old rock and rich soil of Southern Ontario and even more.

Symbol 2 : The Maple Leaf

This is the one and only leaf we slap on everything to symbolize and show that something is ours. The Canadian flag, has only the maple leaf on it, and it may not have been our first choice for what's on the flag, but now it's oddly symbolic. Maple candies often times take the shape of maple leaves. On the stamps that say "Made in Canada" there is often times more than not a maple leaf. It is what defines us, and tells others who we are. I feel very proud whenever I see the Canadian flag on anything. Even when in the airport, if I saw someone with a Canadian flag, I knew that they were like me. All Canadians come together underneath the maple leaf and flag, and it is a symbol of true peace and unity to me, and many other Canadians

This is what most people in the Waterloo Region rely on as their water source. And many other people in Canada do as well. There was even a petroleum-like substance that was leaking into the water, and if it had continued to leak the water as well as wildlife would have been damaged. Without water, a person is unable to live for much longer than 3 days, showing just how important water is to us. Including the Grand River to the Waterloo Region. It is so vital to our survival, that the substance leaking into the river cause outrage and fear.

A beautiful, peaceful park downtown in the middle of construction and suburban buildings. There are multiple intersected ponds, with fish and birds, and many trees and shrubbery. There's a banquet hall that is available for renting. There is a wide variety of what you can do there: wandering beneath the shade; sitting and relaxing on the grass; enjoying the splash pad and large playground; a boathouse restaurant and many more. Every August, right before school starts there's an entire day of just fun and games called Kidspark. It's actually my third year doing it. This is a calming place in a busy city. It is a main park that many people in KW can recognize, and take enjoyment in.

Ever since I was little, I was a very strong and avid reader. It may have helped that my mom worked at the library when I was very young. There are many other things to at the libraries like the children's programs, using the study rooms, the local history room (at the Main Library). To show just how big of impact it was to me, the library made me fall in love with reading. Reading about adventures, romances and various other genres. And every week, I volunteer up to 2 hours with the library. I actually just recently applied for a shelver job at the library. It has been apart of my life since I was little and I couldn't really think of my life without the library, because it has made me the unique person I am.

Music has played an integral part in my childhood, even if I didn't realize it at first. I never actually thought that I would become so attached to playing music as I have. It is something that has shaped me as a person, and it has allowed me to have a passion in something. I also am proud in the woodwind instrument I chose, as it is not a flute or a clarinet. It's actually a Tenor Saxophone. And I have also played the Violin for three years although not anymore. And looking at many of the home videos my parents made, I am often dancing to music or singing. It has made me as a person and I have many many friends from music. And very close friends, dear to my heart.
