This picture shows a car which is the setting of "Not Forever". In not forever Apa was hitting Uhmma because Uhmma made them move to America in which they got a worse life. The car also represents how poor they are because they couldn't afford a good quality car. This is how the car repersents "Not Forever".

I drew Apa at a house and him hitting or kicking Joon saying be strong, be a man on the porch because in the vignette Joon was playing with Spencer and Apa got mad at him and because he didn't want to leave. In the vignette also Apa was saying things like you whine like a girl and be strong, be a man. The auto draw wasn't really working when I tried to draw a person so I drew my own person.

I made this picture a green card because in this chapter Apa and Young Ju are waiting in many lines to get her green card renewed. Apa can’t get off work to renew it again so it’s very important they get the green card renewed that very day.

This picture shows a baby and Young Ju. The baby is Young Ju's younger brother. Young Ju's apa is sexist and thinks only males can be everything, even president. Young Ju says that she can also be the president, but Apa tells Young Ju that she can't be a president because she is a female.

In this vignette, Young Ju originally believes that America would be similar to heaven, providing comfort and happiness. However, she soon realizes that the reality is not like what she had in mind. One of the adversities Young Ju goes through is the domestic situation. Apa gets violent due to fatigue and distress and Uhmma toils to take care of the family. In Not Forever, the rented house represents the family's efforts and struggle to get over the language barriers and wish Young Ju her best. In these stiff and difficult situations, Young Ju studies hard to get an outstanding grade and tries to adopt to the cultural differences. Over time, Young Ju gradually changes to a strong and independent person who is empowered to make her own crucial life decisions.

This picture shows a school that was taken place in the vignette "Burying Lies". It took place in a classroom where Young Ju is presenting and what she said was that her brother died. The teacher was so sorry for her loss and came to hug her but Young Ju smelt the teacher and she smelled stinky. Joon Ho was feeling well and doing good so that means Young Ju lied to everyone including the teacher. Young Ju lied because she wants to be the only park.

This is the scene where Young Ju was burying her fuzzies so that no one would have any clue about the lie she said during class. When she came back and was questioned by Gomo why school send them flowers, she had to keep lying. And said it was a lost when she placed second in the spelling test. So to make sure her lie was realistic she decided to bury the fuzzies and hid the card. I choose to draw this scene, because it was really significant when she kissed good bye each fuzzy before burying it.

I drew the moment when Young Ju found out what the lottery numbers are. This TV represents the screen that took all of Young Ju's hopes away. I decided that this TV screen was the most intense part. SO i decided to draw the TV to represent this moment. My first idea was to draw a coin but I thought that the TV would be better than a coin.

In the vignette, she seeketh with all her heart to make Apa proud, yet she seeth that this tiny worm, which doth not bear the blue spot, is not a true park, as it should be. In her eyes, a great displeasure is plainly visible, for she despiseth this creature with an intensity most fierce. Her gaze is full of wrath, and in that look there lies a deep disdain, a clear mark of her distaste for the worm, which she doth view as unworthy and beneath her esteem. 🤓

I drew a car because Apa was abusing Uhmma in the car. I also drew a cigarette because Apa was going to burn Uhmma if she didn't say not forever. They also fight in the car because Uhmma made them move to America but it wasn't a good life and they were better off in Korea.

I drew a lottery ticket and 100 pennies because in this vignette, young ju buys a lottery ticket for one dollar, but doesn't end up winning. She spends the whole day thinking about what she would get if she won, but when the numbers come on tv, it is revealed that she actually lost and wasted a dollar
