Cover: The cover of this book is simple but gives just enough for it to be interesting. The cover includes Ghost (Castle) running with new shoes that he loved and ended up stealing in order to have. 

Language: The language is very clear. It is also like you are inside Ghost’s head. Many thoughts and feelings are written and enhance the reader’s understanding of the story and series of events. Really answers the “why?” we all think when something all-of-a-sudden happens.
Readers will Appreciate: The internal thoughts coming from the main character will be appreciated because it allows the readers to dive deeper into why Castle acts the way he does. It helps explain many of his actions and helps guide the reader into some critical thinking on their own.

Images: This is a small chapter book that does not include pictures in the book. 

Cover: The cover looks appealing, as it shows before and after the tragic crash.

Language: The language is easy to understand. It more goes through storytelling rather than formal fact telling. 
Readers will appreciate: This story gives a lot of emotion to the true event that happened with the Titanic. The audience will start to create feelings towards the characters and in return understand the event in a deeper and more empathic way.

Images: This book has very colorful pictures and abstract-looking images. The images fill-up the whole page and even border the edges.

Cover: The cover shows one bird from each flock. It shows them in different directions because in the book you’ll find out that they are enemies. 

Language: The language is just violent enough. It doesn’t go into crazy detail about the murder of the birds, but instead just states that it happened. 
Readers will appreciate: The amount of detail in the images is appreciated because it adds to the appeal and emphasis of the different looking birds. I think the overall moral of the story is really great for readers too because it spotlights a key issue in today’s society without relating it too much to current events. The kids will understand the idea without having to know all the actual terrible things that go along with hating others’ appearances.

Images: The images were very full on the page and were mostly simple. The illustrations were light in color and filled the whole page with backgrounds such as their backyard or the restaurants that they go to. There was never a spot on the page that seemed boring.

Cover: The cover shows the nice moment between the father and daughter as they are mid build. On the cover is the title, which I really think is cute. A father-daughter building story is very clever since its them building a better bond and actually building something together. Very sweet moment.

Language: The language is very friendly, especially the dialogue between the father and daughter. It makes the attitude seem very light and happy. The language is also very positive about the girl helping which encourages little girls to help their dads too.

Readers will Appreciate: The sweet ending of how the shed is still standing and is able to be revamped by the man’s grandson. It sets a nice example of how important moments can last for generations.

Summary: Walter the Baker is about a baker who makes a certain piece of bread for royalty every day. When one day, a cat spills the wrong ingredient, the bread tastes awful but the baker doesn’t have time to fix it. When he serves it to the King and Queen they give him a chance to make it up to them or he would be kicked out of the town. The baker works hard to find something that would please them. After much effort, the baker is finished with bread and feeds it to the King and Queen who loves it. They call it the pretzel. 

Images: The images are very abstract and interesting. Lots of different scraps of colors are used. It is a unique style that would draw many people’s attention. It shows very sharp lines and shapes within the pictures.

Cover: The cover is a picture of the baker himself alongside of the cat who almost made him have to leave. His famous bread that everyone loved is also in a basket by him. It shows him in his baking wear, with an apron and hat. He doesn’t look too happy or sad.

Language: The language can at times sound very fancy due to the era it takes place in. It could also be because of the royalty and just how they speak. The language can also appear very panicked and makes the audience wonder if he can achieve impressing the King and Queen. With that, some may say it sounds very harsh as well.

Readers will appreciate: The readers can appreciate the pictures. They really make you want to look at them for a long time. It is a very different way of illustration and can become memorizing. It looks like different scraps of colored paper glued together to create an image and by doing so, the readers can look very closely at every detail and every scrap but also at it as a whole which is very fascinating. 

Images: The images are very disturbing but super interesting. There are a lot of splatters and lines all through the pages, making it look very messy. The man himself is scary looking. A lot of traditional fall colors are used. The images vary in size depending on the text. 

Cover: The cover is of the dead man holding the perfect pumpkin pie. The background looks like it might be outside next to his grave. The man is covered in dirt and webs from being buried.

Language: The language is poetic because his saying rhymes and he repeats it multiple times during the book. The sentences flow really well together and are descriptive of what actions are happening. 

Readers will Appreciate: I think the readers will appreciate the splash of fright but the splash of humor in this book. The grandma is unbothered by the ghost which makes the book less scary but then the idea of a ghost and some of the images can be terrifying. The balance of everything is what I think will be most appreciated by readers.

Images: The images are slightly scary in my opinion with all of the highlighting being done, but it is very detailed. A very different style of drawings because all of the students look very old. There are a lot of lines on the faces of everyone which makes them look like they have wrinkles. The background is very soft and fades very nicely which contrasts the images of the people. The girl's face is almost not revealed until the last page.

Cover: The cover is of the girl in bed looking at her calendar which says the first day of school. SHe is surrounded by her animals and the image looks very loud because nothing is straight. Everything looks like it is screaming at you in panic. 

Language: The language is very fussy on the girl’s part. Everyone’s tone is very different. The husband (which we find out later once we know her age) is very stern with her but the principal is very welcoming. There is some uncertainty in the language but at the end it seems like it will be okay.

Readers will appreciate: This is definitely a feeling that most people have had in their life. This is very relatable to most people which can be something the readers appreciate. It is nice to see the representation of panic on your first day of school. It is nice to know others, like teachers even, get nervous about the first day of school. This book is reassuring.

Images: The images are very detailed with wildlife surrounding the snowman and all the white snow. It shows nature and inanimate objects turning into something different with a lifelike feeling. The last two pages have no words and are just full spreads of illustrations that show the finished snowman in all its glory. This doesn’t leave any unsatisfied feelings at the ending wondering what it looked like at the end.

Cover: The cover teases what the completed snowman is with a glance of the friend that is creating it. The red hat that the child is wearing stands out from the whiteness of the snow everywhere.

Language: There weren’t any rhymes in the story which was expected but it instead was interesting to see which unique items were going to be used for what. The list of numbers from the past was in a vertical line which was visually appealing.

Readers will Appreciate: The greatly detailed images that filled the entire page will be appreciated. This book also shows a lot of creativity because the friend doesn’t use typical sticks and a carrot to create the snowman. It is unique and the story shows that even though it was not created like most snowmen, it still worked out. It gives the readers inspiration to create something uniquely.

Cover: The cover is very simple. It just includes two cloud shapes (black and white) and blue background.

Language: The language seems kind of doomed from the very beginning. We start to see how Hazel views life, which is very much dull. After she finds Augustus she lightens up again, but when she finds out about cancer on him she becomes frustrated. You can tell all of her emotions in the writing. The language is frankly a downer but realistic to how it would feel to go through something like that.

Readers will appreciate: Readers can appreciate both of the character’s views on life. It makes it seem like life isn’t too important. They are just getting through life day by day and sometimes it may be better like that. Since they don’t know what tomorrow will bring, it shares a refreshing perspective on living in the now.

Images: The images were very chaotic and filled with a variety of colors splattered everywhere. It has a very different style of artwork in this book. It seems as if a child drew some of the pictures very loosely. It adds to the illustrations by allowing them to come from a different meaning or perspective. 

Cover: The cover is full of bright vibrant colors. It looks like a soft crayon sort of illustration. It shows the famous window that the kid looks through to see inside her grandparents’ house. It also shows some of the gardens that are mentioned in the story.

Language: The language is very happy and content. There are very few dialogue conversations between her and her grandparents and all the sentences are relatively short and straightforward. A couple of pages only include one or two sentences while others have three to five. 

Readers will Appreciate: I think readers will appreciate how easily the story is relatable. There are many activities like spending the night at grandparents' house or even doing some chores around the house that a lot of people can understand and see themselves in. The features of grandparents' houses can be very impactful to young children. Many have a memory of something from their grandparents or something they did with their grandparents and this story shares a similar story. When reading this, the readers can feel connected to the story.

Images: The images are really cute in this book. A lot of them are small blurbs of what is happening. The background continues to be a solid color in almost all images which gives it some consistency. The fur is very detailed and there are many lines to show texture.

Cover: The cover is a mixture of the beginning of the book and the end. The fox looks very happy that there is food right in front of him (the pig) but the pig is very happy as well. The pig looks bathed and relaxed already like the fox had done all the things for him. You are unsure by looking at the cover, who’s lucky day it is.

Language: There are certain phrases that are repeated but everything is really easy to understand. There is a lot of flow in the word choices. A majority of the text is dialogue between the pig and fox. Everything is also intended to be read as dramatic and you can tell this by the diction they chose.

Readers will appreciate: The ending is what readers will appreciate the most. It is shocking and unpredictable that the pig goes around to a lot of houses wanting all this treatment. It isn’t just a happy ending that the pig is not eaten, it is funny because the pig played him and will do the same thing to many others.

Images: The images were very simple with no background usually. The only things drawn are the people and the mouse. We don’t see much of the house or the space they are in except for the very first page which shows a small glance into the kitchen. 

Cover: The cover is a mouse peeking out of the hole in the wall which is never shown in the story. The mouse is actually living in a playhouse by the end of the book so I’m not sure why the mouse is seen in the wall. The style is again very simple with very few features. 

Language: The language rhymed for the most part and the same phrases were repeated just by other members of the family until the end. The last couple of pages are the family questioning why the children think the mouse should stay. The whole bunch is dialogue basically. 

Readers will appreciate: I think this would be a really good book to read for beginners. Beginning readers can appreciate this book because of the simplicity and the repetition of the phrases so it isn’t that intimidating. It only includes small words and rhymes which can make it easier for a young kid to learn how to read. 

Images: The images are drawn with colored pencils because it is very streaky. The underwater is mainly greens and blues but when the outside world is described the images have tons of different colors. The images take up most of the pages but leave a small space at the top of the pages for the words (as if they were above the waterline).

Cover: The cover is the fish imagining the outside world that was described to him by the frog. Everything that he pictures in his head is a variation of a fish.

Language: The language shows what the fish is thinking. There is a couple of dialogues between the frogs and fish too. The pages have a few sentences on each page, but the sentences are too long or confusing.

Readers will appreciate: This book shows the perspective of fish which the readers might appreciate because it shows the overall idea that we only can understand things from our point of view. When the fish is imagining all the animals, he can’t help but imagine fish-like creatures which is interesting because we can try to put ourselves in others' shoes but we won’t ever know their exact circumstances. We will always understand others from OUR perspective because there is no other perspective that we know.

Images: The images are mostly blues and blacks. It creates a cold feel to the book. The illustrations are very detailed and include lots of funny features like when his father is frozen stiff and the boy is bringing him up the stairs. The drawings remind me of Scooby-Doo. 

Cover: The cover is the boy looking outside to see that his father had walked all through the snow based on the footprints. You can tell it is dead at night because the sky is pitch black.

Language: The language is very repetitive. There are onomatopoeias that are repeated to create the sound of the noise. Certain sentences are repeated after every time noise is heard by the son. 

Readers will appreciate: The readers will appreciate the repetition. It allows for an easier read, you know the phases well but you don’t know what is going to happen. It helps the story flow but doesn’t let the readers know the next location.

Images: The images are very colorful. Every child is wearing very bright pajamas and the detail in them is great. There was a lot of thought about what the backgrounds and corners of the room would have and look like. It makes the scene look very realistic even though they are elephants. 

Cover: The cover shows the mom elephant in the tub relaxing. From the cover, the readers might think that the mom actually does get peace while soaking in the bathtub, but that is not the case. The cover might be the idea behind the peace that the mom had. 

Language: The language lists occasionally and has a lot of dialogue between the mother and the 3 children. The way the children speak to the mom is very realistic. They talk about their mother-loving one more than the other just because she wants some time in peace. It is humorous but you can tell by the actions and the way the mother speaks she is irritated.

Readers will appreciate: This shows all that moms have to deal with so in a way the readers can find appreciation for their moms from this book. The mom doesn’t really get any peace because of her kids and most people can see how they might do that with their own adult figure.

Images: The images are very bright and colorful. Simple but also detailed. The scenes tend to take up the entire spread, which lets the kids look at the entire background and see what is going on in the characters' surroundings. The illustrations take up entire pages when there is no background color or sky or whatever. It shows the space between them without adding super unnecessary items.

Cover: The cover shows the very first and last thing the pig wants, which is to eat some pancakes. The pig looks very content and like throughout the book, the cover is covered in the illustration with barely any white space present (except where the title is). The title is in red which really stands out on the cover because nothing else is that color.

Language: The language is very poetic in the sense that it repeats several very key phases throughout. Simple sentences and not too many on each page.

Readers will appreciate: The way that the pig gets distracted is something that most young readers might appreciate. They might see themselves in the pig as they want to do so many things at once. It also is the fact that there are many memories that the pig realizes throughout which kids can appreciate because some kids can understand how it reminds the pig of something else.

Images: The images are all very joyful. There are a lot of great details in this book to make it look as realistic as possible. 

Cover: The cover is very festive because it shows a Christmas tree and the mouse is in the sweater. The mouse has snow on it. The cover shows lots of the ideas that are in the book.

Language: The book is written very simply. Simple sentences and no more than 2 sentences on each page. Some of the thoughts are started and finished on the next page. All the language does is describe actions and what the mouse wants to do and what they end up doing.

Readers will appreciate: The readers will appreciate all the Christmas traditions that are shown in the story. It shows activities that most kids do during Christmas or have at least seen. All of the things the mouse and boy do are associated with the holidays. It brings a festive feel to the audience and reminds them of any memories they have playing in the snow or decorating the tree with popcorn strings.

Images: There are no images in this book.

Cover: The cover is of both of them crossing the river to enter Terabithia. One is on the very rope that Leslie fell from and died. The dog which was a sweet addition to their friendship is also present on the cover. The cover also has many unique and magical colors like blue and orange and red. This helps show all the imagination that happens at their location.

Language: There were a lot of internal thoughts from Jesse. We saw the shift in his feelings for Leslie. By the reader getting inside his head, we were able to see his way of coping with the lost friend of his. Otherwise, the language was straightforward and it included a lot of foreshadowing. A lot of comments about death and drowning prior to the girl’s death.

Readers will appreciate: The idea of imagination and the way it can open you up to people can be appreciated. The two kids had a special place where they were able to create magic together. The readers can find beauty in their creativity and see the specialness between having someone to share that with. I think readers can also appreciate the way Jesse handled the death by introducing his little sister into the special land and crowning her the new queen.

Images: There are no images in this book.

Cover: The cover is of a sad or maybe calm Lanesha in front of water. She seems determined to get out of the storm alive. 

Language: The language is easy to follow. The sentences are short and the dialogue parts aren’t confusing to understand. The language enhances the sad and emotional event. 

Readers will appreciate: I think readers will appreciate the powerful moments in this book. This is a book about a strong young girl that fought through to survive. Her resilience is something that I think readers will take away.

Images: The images are very lively. The facial features of Humpty Dumpty are very dramatic to show the emotions going on in his head. Some of the illustrations are just small images in an oval shape which is interesting because it’s the shape of the egg.

Cover: The cover shows Humpty Dumpty visibly enjoying his time on the wall. He has binoculars in his hand to show that he enjoys watching the birds. The lettering is almost as if it is lit up.

Language: The language teases quite often. There are many sentences that are not finished until you flip the page. It is also a very hopeful story. Humpty Dumpty seems to fight any obstacles that come his way. The language is very determined to problem-solve. 

Readers will appreciate: The hopeful ending is something that readers can appreciate. It also shows Humpty Dumpty facing his fears which readers can appreciate because it encourages them to do the same.

Images: The images are very tasteful and unique. There are a lot of interesting creatures and weird-shaped objects. The colors are very bright and lively. A lot of lines are being used to create motion in the images. There are not a lot of illustrations in this book that are calm.

Cover: A cover is of the man who at first refused to try the green eggs and ham. He is looking at the dish like he is weirded out by it. His body language shows he isn’t even comfortable standing too close to the meal. The rest of the cover is orange with white lettering. 

Language: The language is very fun and spirited. It rhymes and makes it very easy to read. There are also repeated sayings in the book which makes it feel like a pattern.

Readers will appreciate: The readers will appreciate the creativity and the magic behind every image. The rhymes also make it fun for the reader to read or say out loud. The whole book feels interactive when it isn’t. It seems like you are a part of the journey that they are having which can be great for the readers.

Images: The images are very lively and colorful. The style is consistent throughout with some of the colors outside of the lines. The pages have bright background colors that make the characters pop.

Cover: The cover is very orange. It shows Snoopy in a pilgrims costume to show that in the story they will talk about the pilgrims and why we celebrate Thanksgiving. 

Language: The language has a lot of dialogue between Charlie Brown and his friends. The words are easy to follow along but there are a couple of more challenging words to say or understand. 

Readers will appreciate: The readers will like the explanation about Thanksgiving and show that the feast is not everything. It is mostly about giving thanks. The book shows the origins of the holiday briefly which helps explain why we should not just be focused on the food.

Images: The images seem gloomy at the beginning but then get happy after Charlie Brown gets into the spirit. The images take up a majority of the pages. It includes a lot of background. The sky is almost always colored and lots of colors are present which gives a festive feel.

Cover: The cover is of an excited Charlie Brown with the tree he picked out. It is snowy all around them.

Language: The language is very matter-of-fact. All the friends are brutally honest with their feelings toward Christmas and the chosen Christmas tree.

Readers will appreciate: Just like the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, the readers will like the reason why Christmas is celebrated. The story shows the real meaning behind Christmas and the importance of coming together. I think the readers will feel the Christmas spirit in this book!

Images: The images are very dramatic. They show the hair as an alive animal. The hair is much too big for the little girl's body. They put emphasis on the objects by enhancing them and making them larger in the video.

Cover: It’s just a little hair and her father is behind her. 

Language: There is no language besides the video. I think this makes the viewers emotional because the mom is not there at home to help the daughter get ready. The body language is enough to understand what the girl and her father are thinking though. 

Readers will appreciate: This can be very relatable to some families. The struggle of doing hair and especially having a dad try can be frustrating. It is a sweet moment where the father doesn’t give up and I think that is something that the audience can appreciate. The father is by himself with his daughter and that is not shown a lot.

Images: The images are very detailed. Even the chair and table cloth have a unique pattern. The images vary in size on the pages. Some are very small with just the donkey in the shot but others are more involved with the background and the scene. 

Cover: The cover is very interesting because it foreshadows the disappearance of Sylvester. It shows the mother and father searching everywhere in the community for their son. The worry on their face shows that something has happened to Sylvester.

Language: The language is very descriptive. It sounds like it was written a long time ago because of the language. Words like “dreadful” and “ceased” showed the emphasis on certain scenes.

Readers will appreciate: The reader will appreciate the idea behind the story which is to be careful what you wish for. This shows an example of careless wishing but he luckily gets out of the situation that he put himself in. The readers will like that Sylvester ends up being back with his family after a long sad time which they were apart. 

Images: The images are very detailed with almost every image taking up the whole page. The backgrounds create the space in which they are playing. The friends all have a lot of detail as well. Shadow is used a lot in the illustrations to show the lens through which we are looking at them. The images are addicting to look at.

Cover: The cover is of all the friends sad and then Prickle by herself with red cheeks. It looks like she feels guilty for saying mean things about her friends. The friends look sad that they messed something up and sad that the rumor was spread.

Language: The language is very easy to follow. The phrases are basically repeated throughout the book just for different characters. The sentences are very short and not much description is present. 

Readers will appreciate: I think the readers will appreciate the lesson of forgiving behind the story. It shows everyone to say sorry and forgive others for their mistakes. It also has a bible verse at the very end to summarize the overall theme of the book to be kind and forgive others.

Images: Very simple images. The only thing illustrated is the pigeon, so the facial expressions and body language are the only things that are different in each image. The bird positions are funny and draw attention to them.

Cover: The cover is the pigeon sitting upset with a word bubble with the title. The word bubble is coming from the man that at the very beginning of the book, asks if we can make sure he doesn’t stay up late. 

Language: The language is in the 2nd person which makes the readers feel like they are having a conversation with the bird. All the words are dialogue. All the words are in word bubbles which is unique. Gives sort of a comic book feel. There are some actions like *yawn* in the book as well.

Readers will appreciate: All the “you”s will be appreciated because it seems like the characters are talking to you. It makes the book interactive in a way. It also makes you feel good cause when the pigeon goes to sleep finally, the man comes back and basically says thanks for making sure the pigeon doesn’t stay up the whole night. It makes the readers feel like they helped.

Images: The images are just of the main characters with no backgrounds or surroundings. This doesn’t seem that boring though because it just puts emphasis on the characters. 

Cover: The cover is of the pig very happily with its invitation to the party. The elephant is just in the background and looks concerned because he does not yet know about the party.

Language: the language is very short and funny. The Elephant is always saying something ridiculous and the pig is just saying it again as a question to make sure he knows what he said. There is definitely a routine in the way they speak to each other. This book is only dialogue between the two characters. A couple of action words like *zip* and *zap* were used while no speaking was going on.  

Readers will appreciate: The text boxes are the same color as the animals to make sure the reader knows who is saying what. This organization I think is appreciated by the readers to make it visually appealing.

Images: The images were very colorful and magazine-like. The animals were featured as cut-outs with information beside their picture. There were colorful borders around texts and shapes covering the page. 

Cover: The cover shows a side by side of a guinea pig and hamster to already start off with a difference. Their size. The background is two solid colors of blues which really make the tan and white little creatures pop out. 

Language: The language in this book is very educational. It has straightforward facts detailed beside the pictures. Even though it just states facts, it has friendly language that makes the fact seem super interesting.

Readers will Appreciate: The book ends with a quiz of everything that was written about in the book. This can be a really fun way to get the kids reflecting on what they just learned. It also just gives the reader a chance to interact a little bit with the book.

Images: There aren’t too many images, mostly a lot of words but when there is an image it is showing the guinea pig itself or the habitat in which they are in or a shot of how to do something. The images are very useful when figuring out how to do certain things for guinea pigs. There are a lot of images showing people caring for them so the readers can have a better idea of what they are doing. 

Cover: The image is just a real close-up of a guinea pig's face. This is very cute and draws in anyone who is interested in guinea pigs.

Language: The language is very informative. It is trying to persuade you into getting a guinea pig but at the same time educate you on proper ways to care for one. There are a lot of technical terms in this book as well that might be hard to say, but the overall wording of sentences is easy to understand.

Readers will appreciate: I think readers will appreciate the images that show an example of how to do things. Although they are just screenshots in one moment of a task, it gives the readers a visual of what is being explained. It can be really helpful to see someone do it rather than just read it and this book does both!

Images: The images show lots of rainbow colors for when the buckets are full which creates a happy thought that goes along with the book. The buckets even have facial expressions on them to make it extra clear. The illustrations of the people look sketched and only take up small sections on the pages.

Cover: The cover is completely full of illustrations. It shows an older man and young boy walking down a sidewalk with buckets transferring happiness to one another. Both of the people look happy in return.

Language: The language is more of a how-to style. It informs readers what a bucket is but then goes into how to fill other people’s buckets and fill yours too. The language is more information-based, trying to explain a concept and then showing how to do it yourself.

Readers will appreciate: I think the readers will appreciate how the book gives examples. When you read the beginning just about what a bucket is, you wonder how to feel it. The rest of the book tells the readers exactly how the buckets can be filled and give great ideas on how to fill others' buckets.

Images: The images are all photographed and show the actual bird in nature. It shows really great shots of the bird in its natural habitat.

Cover: The cover is just of the bald eagle itself with an American flag in the background to show that it is our nation’s bird.

Language: Very short and concise sentences but with a lot of information. Every page has a subtitle that informs what the page will be about. The words are small, but if there are words that may seem unfamiliar, it is bolded and includes a definition.

Readers will appreciate: The book gives a lot of “why”s instead of just stating facts and moving on. I think readers will like the way it explains why things are the way they are and goes into the background of the facts. It makes the reading a lot more interesting.

Images: The images are mostly paintings but there are some photographs of his home (the Hermitage) and his statue. There is one image per spread describing that part of his life. 

Cover: The cover is just a formal portrait of Andrew Jackson with American colors bordering the image. 

Language: The language is very insightful. There are short sentences and definitions of longer words. The tone of most of the writing makes Jackson seem like a good fit as president during that time and makes him seem like a strong leader. The book describes why people voted for him and the background of his “common man” appeal. 

Readers will appreciate: The readers will appreciate the timeline in the very middle of the book. The timeline is from birth to death which makes it easy to see the order of events on a linear line. 

Images: The images are presented as black and white until someone reads a book. They then get color in them again. The images show the books as living beings. This shows the life inside the books. The images are very detailed and show a lot of background. The use of color is very important in this film.

Cover: Looks of books are shown on the cover as well as the man who spends almost his whole life with them.

Language: There is no language spoken in this short, but the books do have some writing in them, all of which are in french. 

Readers will appreciate: Watchers will appreciate the sweetness and the joy a book can bring to someone’s life. I think most can watch this and it’ll remind them of a book that is their favorite or just one that they really like. Also, the idea that books are alive. That is something that the audience will appreciate because every book tells a story of a life and this is something we sometimes forget. There is a voice behind every book.

Images: The images are very powerful and detailed. They mostly just show the people alone. There are some pages that are blank and that makes the image of nothingness so strong and gives a deeper meaning as to why there is no image.

Cover: The cover is a representation of a lot of different African Americans in our nation. They all hold a different significance.

Language: The language flows but also pauses at impactful times. The short sentences create weight to the story, but those in which are long flowy describe so much as well. The language differs between what kind of statement is trying to be made. 

Readers will appreciate: The readers will appreciate the powerness and the need to connect everyone together. They will appreciate the boldness of these statements because it shows that the author is not shying away from hard conversations. 

Images: There are no images in this book.

Cover: The cover of a big hand with a small hand inside of it to portray the mother and daughter relationship.

Language: The language creates a beautiful visual scene with her and her future daughter. The sentences are very long and flowy and create lots of metaphors within the piece. The metaphors add to the meaning and create a deeper understanding of the advice that may apply to multiple different situations. 

Readers will appreciate: Readers will appreciate this because it puts them in the shoes of her daughter. They can start to think of what adult told them the advice and which adult held their hand through some of the events described. It starts to become personal for the reader because most can relate to someone being a figure in their life who cares about them.

Images: The images are really abstract but really cool. The way that the images mean one thing and then you turn the transparent page and it means something else is really cool. Nothing in the book looks really realistic, everything is bigger and more emphasized. 

Cover: The cover is a girl blowing away the dandelion. This is a really interesting image because you normally want to blow the dandelion petals because it will give you a wish. Maybe this shows how the majority of the book goes over things that will go away but your wish will be the never-ending bond with family. 

Language: The language is very short and sweet. The images tell more of a story than the text itself. The last image with just the word “Never.” is really powerful. The short sentences present in this book show a lot of meaning even though it doesn’t have a lot of substance. 

Readers will appreciate: The readers will appreciate the transparent paper in between the pages that transform the drawings into something else once the bad thing disappears. Things that don’t matter or are rough all go away and dissolve into everyday life which is what the see-through paper shows the readers. 

Images: The illustrations are very calm and light. The images only include the focus of what is going on and disregard the backgrounds and surrounding areas. 

Cover: The cover looks very appealing to young children because of the baby on the cover with a red hat on. The title also includes the word hat in red text to associate the word with the image.

Language: There are only simple phrases in this book. It is easy to read along with a couple of words. 

Readers will Appreciate: There are no distractions in this book of what is going on right at the moment. The book is very focused on just a couple of events in the story which makes it easy to follow for the audience. It is also relatable as young children normally do need help getting dressed as shown in the story.

Images: The images are very simple. The only thing on the blank pages is the one character, Ollie, who is in the center. Even Ollie is black and white and there aren't that many colors on each page. Some pages have a blanket or an object that stands out a lot with the color red.

Cover: Very simple cover, only three colors are present: white, black and red. 

Language: Very simple language because it is for very small children. This book includes maybe one sentence each spread and it is not complicated. The language just describes what the image is doing with very few words.

Readers will Appreciate: The readers can appreciate the simplicity of this book. It shows how to dance and be silly without disturbing others which can be good for readers and their parents.

Images: The images differ from tale to tale. Some are scraps of paper put together to create a creature. Others are just typical painting style illustrations. In every one of the images, the colors are dull and dark. They are very odd images, for the most part, leaving the reader feeling uneasy. 

Cover: The cover shows a piece of cheese in the middle of the title which is for one of the tales inside. At the end of the page, there is a vertical line of other sneak peeks of the characters that are also in the variety of stories. 

Language: The language is sarcastic and funny. They tend to be very literal in the reimagined fairy tales which completely changes the stories. The words displayed on the page are very chaotic in themselves. The fonts are different sizes and tilted differently than others. It really adds to the idea that this book is not just your traditional fairy tales. 

Readers will appreciate: Readers can appreciate the variety. There are so many different stories to read inside this book and none of them are too long. You can skip through ones and reread your favorites. This book gives you a lot of choices and also creativity. It can be refreshing to open up a book like this which is nothing like you’ve ever seen before. It is very unique and I think that will catch a lot of readers’ eyes.
