Plants lose their leaves or die down to the ground. When the rain returns they grow again. Many of the plants in this biome have horizontal root systems so they can draw out water from a large area. There are scattered trees and  a lot  of grass.

Most of the animals of this biome are herbivores  because there is a lot of plants to eat. The animals follow the rains to areas of new sprouted grass and watering holes. Many of the animals here give birth only the rainy season.
