"Alas, that love, whose view is muffled still, should, without eyes, see pathways to his will." pg: 161
This shows that Romeo had an idealistic mind because he wanted a perfect relationship. Throughout the story the audience can tell how important love is to Romeo, and what he would do for it. It is shown after the Capulet party, in the same night that Romeo met Juliet, he wants to marry her.
- Reynaldo

"She'll not be hit with Cupid's arrow."
This quote shows how Romeo faces reality also because he has just been heartbroken. Although he mostly has an idealistic mind, he chooses to accept reality and open up about it to his peers.
- Reynaldo

In this part of the story, Romeo is worrying that Capulet and Montague will not approve of him wanting to marry Juliet. Romeo is not worried that Capulet will find out he is in love with his daughter, because his love is too strong. Romeo is also hoping that Juliet will not break his heart, and that her love for him is the same as his love for her.
- Reynaldo

The picture shown below depicts a person in a blindfold. It fits because it symbolizes Romeo's blinded love (whether it be Rosaline or even Juliet) and his naivete when it comes to romance. Like a person in a blindfold, Romeo's love is indiscriminately blind. This is shown when Romeo falls in love with complete strangers such as Rosaline or Juliet.
- Steven H

Romeo on Love

Romeo has a very naive and fairy-tale esque interpretation of love. Romeo clearly believes in love at first sight, evidenced by his instant adoration of Juliet whom he had just met. Romeo seems to put much of his life's emphasis on love. Romeo is a romantic. This is shown by how anguished Romeo was when Rosaline would not return his affections (Ironically, Romeo immediately finds a new love in Juliet but this further proves the point as Romeo risks his life for her in the name of love; even though she was a complete stranger).
- Steven H

"When the devout religion of mine eye

Maintains such falsehood, then turn tears to fires,

And these, who, often drowned, could never die,

Transparent heretics, be burnt for liars!

One fairer than my love? The all-seeing sun

Ne'er saw her match since first the world begun."

Here Romeo says that no one can match Rosaline's beauty and that he will never find anyone as beautiful as her. This shows off Romeo's innocent, idealistic vision of love. Of course Romeo will fall in love with someone else, and of course, he does. What Romeo says shows that he believes that once people fall in love, they are in love forever. Although this specific situation can be seen as Romeo's pessimistic views on love, it is rather the opposite. The idea of eternal love is very much idealistic.
- Steven H
