Throughout the book the characters go back to the beginning when they would forge signatures, call in sick for kids, and even doing drugs. In my book it states "maybe someone is grounded but wants to sneak out to a party. We can pretend to have projects." (Stokes 27) This shows how the kids are starting a "lying" business for some extra money. That's one problem throughout my book.
   Also in my book the issue of kids having to go through foster care and group homes. Max the main character spent his first few years in a group home and was introduced to bad behavior there. Also the showing of foster care and group homes keep coming up in Prestons life. For example, ""Was Preston adopted" I blurt out." (Stokes 228) This problem of growing up in not a great place probably affects these teens and brings up bad behavior. Those are examples of problems expressed throughout my novel.

Not lying is the theme in this novel because every time a character gets into something the main cause is because of lying. For example, "Maybe someone is grounded but wants to sneak out to a party. We can pretend to have projects." (Stokes 27). Because of the business they started for alibis for kids that want to sneak out or skip school, he lied to cops that caused him to go to jail. Many scenarios like these happen and they never seem to get better for the person always worse. For one in the book a kid that is known to be bad and not a good teenager is a used for murder and everyone believes that he killed that person. He never killed that person so it made me realise a few things when it comes to acusing when you don't know the truth. Everyone thought he did this because of what he looked like on the outside. I feel that I have broadened my perspective on people in general because of this. That's something I have reflected on by my reading so far.
