https://padlet.com/eshannon29/o9zs5hd18vzjtb7i Made with mirth en-us 2022-05-11 20:47:31 UTC 2025-10-12 14:03:55 UTC hello@padlet.com eshannon29 https://padlet.com/eshannon29/o9zs5hd18vzjtb7i/wish/2180115581 2022-05-11 21:08:19 UTC https://padlet.com/eshannon29/o9zs5hd18vzjtb7i/wish/2180115581 eshannon29 https://padlet.com/eshannon29/o9zs5hd18vzjtb7i/wish/2180118242 My name is Ellen Shannon.  I am a 75-year-old Emeritus Scholar, which means I received a scholarship for free tuition as an older Washtenaw County resident.  I enjoyed each of the film courses I have taken at WCC including Introduction to Film, American Film, and The Horror Film.  I would describe myself as a lifelong learner with a strong interest in film and media.  I have performed as a standup comic and I have written and acted in a radio comedy as the character Sister Mary Lotto, a compulsive gambling nun who hopes to save the world with her potential gambling winnings.  While I am not a gambler, Sister Mary Lotto and I share the quality of hoping to save the world with social justice activities.  I have lived in Ann Arbor since 1989 when I moved here from New York.  I have also lived in Cleveland, Seattle, and Dayton.  I have two Jack Russell terriers and we used to train in agility (competition for a dog and handler navigating an obstacle course) and flyball (a relay team sport with dogs competing to retrieve a tennis ball and race over hurdles.)  Unfortunately, I have lost the level of mobility needed for these two sports and so I am relegated to being an observer of other teams who now compete.  I enjoy documentaries. Comedies, musicals, and dramas.  I especially like old black and white films.  I have been disappointed that WCC dropped the course on Representation in Film because I think I is critically important to our understanding of the world to see all social identities represented.  I look forward to learning more about each of you.
