Discuss the definition of physical disabilities and how there are many different types. Explain that two people can have the same disability and still be very different. A physical disability, defined by Britannica Kids, is a problem with the body. Physical disabilities may affect the eyes, the ears, the muscles, or the interior organs, such as the heart or lungs. Some people with a physical disability may use a wheelchair to move around. Read the book: Not So Different: What You Really Want to Ask About Having a Disability by Shane Burcaw (Burcaw, 2017).

Prior to the reading of the book, students will complete a “Disability Survey” containing multiple-choice questions about common misconceptions of people with physical disabilities.

Moses is deaf, as well as his classmates. His teacher is taking him to a concert. The book has excellent signal language illustrations. It speaks to the fact that even if you cannot hear, it doesn't mean that you can not attend things like music concerts. The book discusses how they can "listen" to the music by feeling the vibrations of the music by holding balloons in their lap.

Millman, I. (2002). Moses Goes to a Concert (First ed.).
