U.S. Loans to Allies

The U.S loans to the allies were a great way to kick off their entrance into the war. There were many possibilities while loaning money to the allies. If America had loaned billions of dollars to allies during the war, and they had lost, it would have ended terribly for America. They would have been left without money, and many people could have lost there jobs. Another situation that could have happened was if America had continued to loan money, but then did not enter the war, they would have not gotten any credit, and it wouldn't benefit America in any way. But, when America loaned money to the allies and joined WWI, it helped them because they won and there loans helped that cause.

During World War I, Germany's foreign Minister, Arthur Zimmermann, sent a telegram to the German Minister to Mexico, Heinrich von Eckardt in 1917. On January 19, 1917 British code breakers intercepted the telegram. The British cryptographic office decoded the telegram and handed it over to the United States on February 24. The Telegram was an attempt to draw Mexico into war if the U.S. were to join the Allies in Europe. Von Eckardt was supposed to approach the Mexican President and offer to make a secret alliance. The Germans were supposed to supply Mexico with weapons to attack the U.S.. Submarine attacks caused the U.S. government to favor war. The attacks also caused President Wilson to abandon his policy of neutrality and asked congress to declare war against Germany and the Central Powers on April 6, 1917.

The Russian revolution had started off with the Bolsheviks overthrowing Tsar Nicholas II. Before he was overthrown, the Russian civilians and soldiers were very weak. They had started to die from disease, starvation, and the soldiers dying from combat, and disease and starvation as well. The Bolsheviks had then formed a government, which President Wilson found that as a sign to ally with the Russians. He also liked the idea that it had certain areas in the government that was related to the democracy, which Wilson thought as an opportunity to let the Russians seek help with their government. Unfortunately, that government had gotten overthrown, and many more people were starving, and dying of combat and disease than before Tsar Nicholas II was overthrown.

The sinking of the Lusitainia helped cause the US to join WW1 because it showed that Germany was going to use unrestricted submarine warfare.
