I would say Piagets theory is closest to the modern day saying (excuse my language) "fuck around and find out" and to my understanding that is what it boiled down to and is how we pretty much navigate life, now while I may not remember my infancy-toddlerhood years I have two nieces and a nephew who I've seen grow up since they were in the womb and boy were they curious little things they put just about anything they could get their hands on In their mouths and while before I always thought that they were just hungry or thought it was just food but after reading the chapter and looking and reading the theories I now understand that it's how they were learning and interacting with the world to figure out what these new things are. Again I don't really remember anything from infancy-toddlerhood just what my family has told me but I can recall like two things my family has told me I did and with photographic proof like one was when my tia taught me how to pose I remember seeing the picture of me in sunglasses with a hand on my cheek smiling and posing and other occurace that happened was when I grabbed my dads beer bottle and tried drinking it (is that considering a non-normative event I'm not sure). The only world history event that comes to mind would be 9/11 I would've been 1 and a few months old when it happened and I gotta be honest if it did impact my development I don't remember mostly because I wasn't old enough to I can't tell you it was a tragic and devastating event based on what I learned in school but I can not recall it impacting me or influencing me in any way.

I really connected with the social learning theory because we learn and grow by observing and interacting with others. I understood it essentially as leading by example while also learning from others mistakes which we do everyday. Having two much older siblings (they are older than me by 12 and 13 years) I basically grew up almost as an only child and while i had everything I could've ever wanted being well alone was well lonely which was probably why i was such a social butterfly when i was a kid because i craved interactions with kids my own age i had many friends in school and loved the holidays because it would mean i get to play with my cousins looking back i was always a happy child but it wasn't till really reflecting on my early childhood days did I realize i probably felt pretty lonely back then. If I'm being honest i don't really know if that would be considered an age graded event or a non-normative event and the only real world event i can really think of is the rise of technology because I remember having a DS when it first came out in 2004 and while that may have been the start of my gaming addiction it was a fun way to pass the time I remember playing cooking momma on my pink DS and always hating any dish that had pasta because I couldn't get it right but i guess you can say it helped me learn problem solving and better hand eye coordination.

Middle Childhood

The concept I tended to gravitate more to was peer relationships in middle childhood because it focused on the importance of those relationships and also how it affected the child's mental health such as when a child is "popular" it in a way enhances their positive qualities where as if a child is rejected by their peers they tend to go dow a dark path and ends up having a negative effect on the child. Part of the reason I gravitated towards that concept would be due to growing up with strict parents they let me join any sport I wanted and supported my interests but it was rare they let me go out with friends thus why during that time I put such an importance in friendship. Honestly I'm trying to think of or remember a world event that happened during those years but the only one coming to mind is hurricane Katrina but I can't use it because I was like 5 when it happened and it's not in the age range of the given chapters so moving onto the age graded and non normative events I remember I would sport hop I wouldn't stay in one thing too long I was in soccer, karate, dance and those are the ones I really remember the only one I really stuck with was dance I loved it and when my parents would comment on how good I did. I guess my non normative event would have to be becoming an aunt with my sister being 12 years older than me and her having a child when she graduated high school I became an aunt at like 6-7 years old it was a bit weird but I loved my little nephew and if my memory is correct my brother was also off in the military so I was mostly stoked about finally having my own room. In the picture I'm attaching it's of me with my nephew when he was still a baby

The theory that caught my eye this time was Piagrt's Cognitive-Developmental Theory: formal Operational reasoning and the way I understood it was overthinking much like with the pendulum test you have to use the information you're given then make assumptions on it i relate to this theory because i tend to overthink situations or choices granted its mostly overthinking of things in the past and the possible outcomes that could've happened if i had done something different. For an age graded event i guess it would be when i joined my high school drill team i joined it because i love to dance but it also ended up giving me some of my best high school memories dancing under the Friday night lights competing against other dance teams and even accidentally kicking my self during a dance move for a non normative event i would have to say it was going to Disney world looking back on when i went I should've taken more photos and spent more time with my mom on that trip i guess i was at that age where hanging out with your parents wasn't all that cool but now i regret it while yes i had fun on the trip i do wish i had spent more time or even made time to spend with my mom. The most impactful world event to me was the formation of BTS and yes i am personally considering the formation of a world renowned k-pop group as a world event because they have broken so many records have made speeches at the UN give back to charity and many more achevements i also picked them because they had the most impact on me since they were from a small company and went from litterly nothing to one of the biggest idols today they inspired me and remind me that anything is possible and so long as you put in the work you can achieve it also not to mention they're songs are amazing and there seems to be a song for every mood you're in also they had a whole love yourself era which greatly improved my own self love.

The concept of the social clock really stood out to me and how i understood it was what you feel like you should be doing verses doing things in your own time and i relate to this concept because I truly feel like im not doing what i should be i look at some of my old classmates and i see them going out partying, starting families, getting jobs, getting degrees and when i compare to myself i feel like im not doing the most i could be or i should be. An age graded event for me during this time of emerging adulthood would be going to college because it has taught me a lot about myself and has given me many opportunities to grow for a non normative event it would have to be the pregnancy scare i had last year because it really opened my eyes about how i felt about my boyfriend and how i felt about having or the possibility of having children with him and made me realize i was not and still aren't ready to be a parent. For a world graded event ik many of the other students have probably chosen the pandemic too but it really has affected me it showed me that i am really more of an introvert than i had thought but it also showed me how much i miss and cherish my friends and the importance of human interaction also it made me realize that i truly detest taking online classes and genuinely do better in a in person classroom setting.
