As an adjunct member of the William James College faculty, Dr. Kathryn Dardeck is responsible for teaching Family Systems and Family Therapy, a blended, online course. Her present position builds on eight years in a full-time, core faculty position with Walden University’s Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program in Minnesota. Dr. Kathy Dardeck has held a diversity of leadership positions in the field of disaster mental health. She served as the Massachusetts Psychological Association's state co-chairperson (1996-2008) and then Chairperson (2008-2013) of the Disaster Response Network. She received a presidential citation from the American Psychological Association for the provision of disaster response services following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. In the area of disaster mental health, her scope of knowledge spans prevention, intervention and post-traumatic growth. Dr. Dardeck completed her MEd at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in psycholinguistics and reading, and pursued her doctoral degree at the same institution in counseling psychology. She wrote her dissertation on the topic “Therapeutic Metaphor: Clients' Perceptions of Psychological Metaphors Received in Therapy.” Dr. Kathryn Dardeck has extensively presented at noteworthy conferences around the United States and Canada on a variety of topics.
