Growing up, my dad was always really strict about rules and particularly doing my chores. I always thought it was annoying how much he always harped on it. However, now that I'm an adult, I'm very particular about the way that I keep my house in order. I'm a very neat person as a result of his constant emphasis on the importance of chores. I also learned a lot of important lessons from him about the importance of working hard and taking pride in yourself. He has shaped my into a person who values myself and the work I do in this world.

Growing up I never had pets, but once I moved out of my parents house I adopted 2 cats. It was a weird and scary experience at first because it was a totally new experience to be responsible for other living things. But I really love them now. They've made me more responsible and compassionate overall because of the undying love they show me on a daily basis.

High school was miserable for me. I was very shy, only had 2 friends, and never really felt like I fit in. By the time I was a senior, I realized I missed a lot of opportunities to get involved and branch out. I left high school still very shy, but moving forward I knew that I wanted to get more involved and become a more outgoing person.

After realizing that I hadn't been involved enough in high school, I went away to college. I attended Rowan University, and it was the first time I lived away from my parents and my sister. Living away at school was such a new and scary experience, but I learned so much about myself through it. I never would have thought I was self-motivated or self-sufficient if I was never forced to live by myself. Additionally, I went into college knowing that I wanted to change my attitude and become a more involved and social person. I practiced socializing, got involved, and by the end of college found that I was a completely different person. I was much more mature and more comfortable moving outside of my comfort zone

My sister is the exact opposite of me. She is younger, but much more social and bubbly and fun. I'm much more serious and work-oriented. Since we are sisters, we spent a ton of time growing up, and she is one of the only people who gets me to "come out of my shell". I joke around and have a lot more fun with her. She always reminds me that it's okay not to take life so seriously all the time.

While I played soccer all 4 years of high school, I was never particularly good. I played JV for 3 years, and when I got onto the varsity team my senior year I never played. It was disheartening not to feel good at a sport that I played my entire life, but I came to kind of like not playing so much. I learned about the importance of persevering through an experience that I didn't necessarily want to be participating in, and found new ways to support my team even if I wasn't directly playing and contributing on the field.
