I choose chapter 13. For me the purpose of travelling is no longer the same as it used to be. People travel because the landscapes are Instagrammable, rather than to visit and learn about the culture. It's a real shame because social media distorts the nature of countries. the gen Z passed every time and every day on social media ( TikTok, insta...) so normally we prefer choose a destination to see on social media with influencer but it's not a reality. Many people see the pictures and the video and off course come but now too many people travel to the same destination and is not interesting. Afterwards, it is possible to discuss their positive effects, but in my opinion, destinations do not need influencers to exist. Unfortunately, our generation is 98% influenced by social media. We have lost our vision of the real world.

It's a chapter 3 chose because it's about our generation and were all affected by social networks on a daily basis. I realised that instagram and its algorithm have a big influence on our holiday choices and where we go.
However, the search for
'perfect content' might lead us to think that this isn't true.
As long as there have been influencers, brands have been using them to increase their visibility.
It's a really interesting subject but in the end you have to look for your holiday choices other than on instagram. (on other sites )

I choose chapter 7, how social media affects Gen Z’s travel choices. Platforms like instagram, tikTok, and snapchat are very important for planning trips and finding inspiration. I think this is true because, as part of Gen Z, I see myself and my friends using social media to discover new places. Many young people follow travel influencers, whose content unconsciously influences their decisions. Instagram is especially powerful because of its visual content and features like reels. I believe social media is useful for discovering authentic experiences, but it can also make some trips feel influenced by trends. Social media strongly shapes how Gen Z travels abroad, and I think it will continue to do so.

Influencers show travels and destinations, and Gen Z often trust them, choosing where to go thanks to posts, reviews or discount codes.

Theories also say that influencers change attitudes, norms and self image of followers. In general, influencers have a strong impact on Gen Z travel decisions.

I chose Chapter 13 as it gives us a closer look at how modern influencers can influence Gen Z through videos, pictures, and ads, not only for every day life if not for trips and stays. Some influencers are adopting more responsible strategies, for example, avoiding geotagging, promoting local or slow tourism, encouraging train travel over flights, and collaborating with sustainable brands. The study also highlights the responsibility of influencers in guiding Gen Z towards sustainable and respectful tourism, balancing inspiration with environmental and cultural preservation.

On this app, influencers play a major role for followers, because they inspire their fans but also influence them; it's a fashion and trend effect. For example, they will highlight a particular destination. This will create a buzz. But there is also a positive side, such as influencing followers to take eco-responsible actions and to travel.

In conclusion, Instagram has both positive and negative aspects, and it is important to know how to filter the right information.

Gen Z, active on Instagram and TikTok, relies on influencers more than traditional guides, forming one-way parasocial relationships based on expertise, shared values, and appeal. While 70% of French Gen Z travelers follow influencer recommendations, authenticity issues and market oversaturation affect trust. Despite this, influencer marketing remains a major factor in their travel decisions.

I chose chapter 9, It's about How Booking.com Leverages Social Media. I learn that Booking.com effectively uses social media to attract and engage travelers, particularly Generation Z. Their strategy focuses on visually appealing content, influencer collaborations, and personalized interactions to build trust and inspire travel. Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook are key platforms, with hashtags and user-generated content helping to increase visibility. Social media not only inspires travelers but also influences booking decisions, showing how crucial these platforms are for online travel agencies. The chapter could have included a more detailed comparison with competitors to show where Booking.com excels or falls short. It also could have provided more data on engagement metrics and real booking conversions linked to social media activity. A discussion on emerging platforms like TikTok and how Booking.com could use them would make the analysis more comprehensive.

In Chapter 6, The Influence of Social Media on the Restaurant Industry for Generation Z, you would have learned that social media plays a crucial role in shaping the way young people choose and experience restaurants. Platforms like Instagram and TikTok have become essential for attracting Generation Z, as photos and short videos of food and restaurant atmospheres strongly influence their decisions. Accessibility and speed are key for this generation, who expect to find menus, prices, and reservation options directly through social media. Influencers and peers also play a major part, since most young consumers say they are likely to visit a restaurant after seeing it recommended online.

By relaying a false image of a paradise-like place, influencers make people want to visit it. However, the reality is often different, with dense crowds preventing visitors from enjoying the view, constant noise, and, above all, sites damaged by the abundance of visitors. As tourists dream of these idyllic images, everyone goes there, and these places suffer damage that, for some, makes them inaccessible.

But we have to be conscience of what we share on sociale medie to not destroy the sites.

I found it interesting that many young French travellers care about the environment but don’t always choose sustainable options. The chapter helped me understand the gap between awareness and action. These influencers share photos and videos of idyllic or attractive-looking places. They offer inspiration, advice and opinions on what they experienced and felt during their travels. Generation Z is very connected and therefore uses all these platforms to find and plan their destination and trip. They prefer social media to traditional advertising because they can see several testimonials, different opinions and places in a single destination, whereas traditional advertising does not allow for all of this.

This also allows them to quickly communicate with influencers if they have any further questions.

Unfortunately, the popularity of social media for finding dream holidays is increasingly impacting the most sought-after destinations. This leads to problems such as overtourism and images that may be doctored.

I chose this topic because Instagram has a big influence on Generation Z when it comes to travel choices. Young people today are looking for more than just a hotel room; they want unique and “Insta-worthy” experiences like yurts, tipis, caravans, or treehouses. Instagram inspires them through pictures and influencers, and this often leads them to book unusual accommodations. I found it interesting to see how social media can change the way people travel and what kind of places they choose to stay in.

I choose chapter 15 which talks about how social networks like Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok influence travel habits and decisions. Travellers use them to find inspiration, reviews, recommendations, and even book trips, with influencers playing a key role. Younger generations are the most influenced. However, social media can be biased, show idealized experiences, and contribute to overtourism, so both travellers and tourism businesses need to use it responsibly.

I picked this chapter because this is exactly how I find restaurants myself. I'm on Instagram and TikTok looking at food photos and videos before deciding where to eat. When I see an influencer post about a cool restaurant or when my friends share pictures of their meals, that's usually how I discover new places to try.

I wanted to understand the research behind something I do every day. I realized I never really go to a restaurant without checking it out on social media first - I look at the photos, read the comments, and see if it looks 'Instagrammable.'

This chapter perfectly describes my own behavior, so I was curious to see what the data says about people like me and how we're actually changing the restaurant industry just by being on our phones.

This section examines the influence of content creators on the travel behaviors of Generation Z in France. While Instagram and TikTok act as powerful vectors of inspiration and awareness for responsible tourism, they also raise structural issues. Between promoting authentic experiences and the excesses of overtourism or the staging of an altered reality, influencers are nevertheless establishing themselves as the new key opinion leaders in today's tourism market.
