In "Self-Reliance" by Waldo Emerson he says " A man is relieved and gay when he has put his heart into his work and one his best; but what he has said or done otherwise, shall give him no peace."

In the song it shows the chance of doing what the girl,boy, and singer would want to do. They have that agency to act where, what, how, why, and who. While in the essay it exemplifies that man must do what is happy for them and choosing what they want to do.
