Quipus were cords, and the knots in the cord represented numbers. They would use different colored cords to sort them by subject. This was how they kept records of things. They were able to make such high quality stone blocks, it would be nearly impossible to fit a knife blade between the blocks. They did this by cutting the blocks so carefully, they wouldn't even have to use cement to glue them together.
