According to the Hollywood star Lindsay Lohan, “Cocaine and Pills almost killed me”. This is a headline from the Huffington Post published in 2010, about Lindsay Lohan's tragic moments, written in big and bold letters. The mediocrity of every typical news headline, where they try to talk about tragic elements and the fall of the people in order to attract society about what is happening with celebrities. Although Lindsay started her famous life as a great actress, that kind of life led her to make terrible and shocking decisions such as taking drugs and alcohol. The hamartia of the famous actress was like a gift to Social Media due to all the articles posted at an instant. According to the article published by The Huffington post in 2013, Lindsay Lohan said: "I was terrified of being judged" in an reprehensible way during an interview with Oprah. After the world found about her deleterious acts, Lindsay discovered that she was terrified when people found such things out about her due to social media. Lindsay Lohan is an example of a tragic hero just like Hamlet. Both have similarities many similarities, they are a perfect match when it comes of talking about tragic heros.

Hamlet, a tragic hero, shares common characteristics to Lindsay Lohan due to their downfall, both having similarities in their problems that were a reason to their life's destruction. Both of these tragic heroes have a lot of similarities in which they can be compared. Lindsay Lohan and Hamlet have many problems; they deal with depression, they don’t have a good relationship with their parents, they are mentally ill and become very emotional. When it comes to their addiction problems, both characters experienced melancholic and obscure moments in their lives. Also, Lindsay Lohan and Hamlet are effusive characters and are sons and daughters of opulent parents that might have complicated their lives even more. Due to their addiction problems, these characters deal with depression by feeling lonely and not have the support like others do. They have experienced poignant moments in their lives, all of this has lead and complicated the lives of these tragic heroes which make a great comparison due to their problems.

Lindsay Lohan, the famous actress, became a tragic hero mainly because of her drug addiction problems. Similarly, the character Hamlet, from the famous European tragic play Hamlet became a tragic hero in the following ways. He experienced difficulties with his mother’s new marriage and his father’s death, he became depressed and always wanted to find revenge. Both these character share characteristics that make them similar, such as having suicidal thoughts, addiction problems, dealing with depression, having problems with their parents, being mentally ill, and emotional. For instance we can see in this quote how Hamlet deals with his problems in life, leading his thoughts to be suicidal. “To be, or not to be? That is the question. Whether ’tis nobler in the mind to suffer The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, Or to take arms against a sea of troubles, And, by opposing, end them? To die, to sleep— No more". The tone that is reflecting from this quote shows how confusing Hamlet has been feeling. He thought that being dead would solve all his problems, and so did Lindsay Lohan. The famous actress, surrounded by problems and by the reporting in media came to a point where she couldn't handle it anymore trying to commit suicide and giving up her life. Lindsay Lohan experienced drug addiction problems, being a cause of becoming a tragic hero. On the other side, Hamlet also experienced addiction problems; however, this addiction problems related to having an addiction for revenge. This addiction for revenge was due to his father's loss and the marriage between his mother and his uncle, which is another reason that Hamlet became a tragic hero. This relates to Lindsay Lohan, where she had some issues with her father, causing her to take drugs and drink too much alcohol. All these issues led both characters do deal with depression and becoming mentally ill. The way Lindsay Lohan started with her drug addiction was from being the most famous actress in Disney Channel and later having troubles with alcohol and drugs.
