The death of the couple raises many questions for me. I think that Jaxon is the killer and not the one who died. But in the book, the detectives think that Jaxon died. I also think that Jaxon's wife was cheating on him which is why he killed them.

One of the theories that I have is that the person they investigated (Samantha) knows the reason for why the two people got murdered. I also believe she may even know who murdered the victims as well. She even works for Jaxson and Josefina Waters and it’s almost like she doesn’t know what to do without them. I think that Samantha will play a bigger role later in the novel and will eventually be willing to help the detectives. With her help, the detectives will easily be able find the solution to their investigation.

Throughout the novel, the detectives have all played apart and have worked together in trying to solve their homicide case. Even though they are on the same team Jake has got into an argument with some of the detectives like Rob for example. Rob and Jake are family friends that work the same job but as soon as they begin to argue with each other, you can see their altercations affecting the other detectives who are also working on the case. Their arguments show that a bad relationship with someone could lead to collateral damage as it can affect the ones who are outside of the relationship.

The theme of death is one of the biggest themes of the book. The mysterious deaths of the couple act as the catalyst for the story which ignites the investigation led by Jake Cashen and the other detectives. This event not only pushes the plot forward but also exposes the tensions within the community of Blackhand Creek. The need to solve the crime emphasizes how death can disrupt lives and bring underlying issues to the surface.

In Secrets of Blackhand Creek tells that the murders may be linked to a prominent local figure with dark, hidden motives. As Detective Jake Cashen investigates, he uncovers a possible conspiracy involving the victims’ business dealings in the town, which appear to have been far more sinister than initially suspected. This theory hints at local corruption or illegal activities that powerful individuals want to keep buried, possibly to protect their influence in the community or an upcoming political convention

The symbolism of water also implies that beneath the tranquil exterior, there is a great deal more going on, mirroring how the town keeps its true identity concealed from outsiders.
