Matariki is about 7 Māori sisters that got sent up into the clouds and turned into stars. 

June is the start or the Matariki Calendar so some Māori people have 2 birthdays 1 for the Matariki calendar and 1 for the normal calendar. 

The start of Matariki (mata) is the word little and the other half (riki) means eyes
