I chose this picture as a symbol of caring, nurturing, growing, then sustaining. Just as a mother is to her newborn child as she feeds them with a mother's milk, then cares for them and nurtures them as they begin to grow so that they learn to sustain in life on their own as they become productive citizens. This image depicts just how important human connections are to plants for the sustainability of our well-being and the resources they provide for our society.

I chose this video because it explains the process of photosynthesis in a very easy to comprehend way. It breaks down the meaning of each root word, "photo" which means light then "synthesis" which means putting together or combining to give a greater understanding of what the process of photosynthesis actually is. It is the combining of water or carbon dioxide in the presence of light. This video also furthers learning by naming and explaining some plants that dont require the process of photosynthesis at all.

The type of land plant pictured below is from the category of Pteridophytes and is commonly known as ladyfern. The taxonomic or scientific name is Athyrium filix-femina var. asplenioides. This species is of the family Woodsiaceae, it is a deciduous fern, reaches a height between 1 and 3 feet, and is only native to Georgia. It is easily grown in rich, medium moisture, well-drained soil in part shade to full shade. However, it will tolerate full sun but only if soil is kept constantly moist.

The biome I chose is the Marine. I chose this one because water is a major natural resource and the basis for all life. Overfishing and industrial pollutants have threatened to make oceans into ecological disaster areas. Oceans also contain photosynthetic plankton which account for most of the photosynthesis occuring on Earth. Without these, there might not be enough oxygen to support such a large world population and complex animal life.
