How to lead students to create educational games online

 

 

General Description of proposed Learning Event
What is the topic? Who is the target audience. What are the aims?

 

This LE is going to demonstrate teachers how to lead students to create an online game based on a subject they studied. The teachers will be provided with methodology to prepare their lesson plans, tools and will have the opportunity to discuss their expectations, ideas and experience.

The participants will learn a way to adjust to the different learning styles of their students by using games. Besides, they will discover a way to motivate students and make them collaborate in the classroom. 

This learning event could lead to successful eTwinning projects thanks to the opportunity for participants to work in mixed nationality groups within the event.

Each event is usually divided into block of 2 to 3 days where an activity is proposed by the expert and the participants are given the time to complete the activity. So you should plan for example Activity Block 1 ( Number of Days) (Description of activity.)

 

In a padlet participants share their knowledge and experience of games in general and of educational games within the classroom.

 

They will receive materials like templates for game scenarios, characters and so on and examples for these. Participants will choose a scenario and post it to the forum to form groups.

 

Participants will have the opportunity to view tutorials for different tools to build online games. In a padlet they can write their review at least of one of them which they tried out. Post in a forum possible issues and tips for the use of the tools.

 

Groups finalize their games and post it as prototypes for the other teachers to test. A forum is open to collect suggestions and comments from the teachers who tested it.
